Because the restaurant was a really fancy one, I wasn't able to wear jeans or leggings, some of the most comfortable things I can ever wear. So after a small shopping spree at Target, I picked out a simple black floral off the shoulder dress that tied in the middle. The dress was flowy and cute, enough to appease to the dress code. So that, with a pair of my mom's knee high black boots, I was ready to go put on a show for my Mom's boyfriend and his son.

It's not like there'd be much to do or say, I'm mostly going to support my Mom and eat free fancy food. I'm more concerned with what kind of side dishes I should get with my steak rather than questions I'd ask "the boyfriend." So it goes without saying, I smile slightly as we approach the table with the middle aged man and his teenage son. My mother of course is all smiles and glowing as she reached out to him; both giving each other a polite kiss on the cheek.

It's whatever, kiss on the cheek, cool. The guy doesn't look like a serial killer or a bum trying to trick my Mom. In fact, he looks nice. The type of nice that wears dark navy blazers, has his blouse tucked into his khakis and has a decent smile and a head full of hair. Nice.

But it isn't until he's introducing his son that I'm about to call it quits and abort; leave the restaurant and sit in my mom's car until she was done. Because low and behold, it was none other than the most popular boy in my school sitting next to me.

Jeon Jungkook is the most popular boy in our school, despite being a junior. Because it wasn't until last year when the quarterback graduated and they had tryouts, that everyone discovered how amazing his throwing arm was. He's a true athletic beast, mastering strength, speed, and strategy. A perfectionist in human form. And it paid off in a 9-1 win to loss ratio last year. And that loss was only because a lineman got through and tackled him bad enough that the nurse said he should sit out in fear of a concussion.

So as I craftily hold the menu up like The Great Wall of China, I perk my ears up to listen to everything being said as I look at the choices in side dishes.

"It's so good we finally had the opportunity to do this," my Mom said with a smile, looking at Jeon Jungkook's father.

He held her hand above the table and looked back and forth between me and his son, "Yes, we've wanted you kids to meet."

"We've met before though Dad. We go to school together."

My eyes bugged out behind the menu, and I suddenly wished I had booked it out of there while I had the chance just a few moments ago. But the inevitable happened, I could feel their stares burning into the menu, so I did the decent thing to do and put the menu down flat on the table.

"Yeah, we have AP Chemistry together," I said mostly to the adults, and doing my best to ignore the way Jeon Jungkook was looking at me; like he was staring at my makeup and judging me on how my left wing of eyeliner was a little crooked compared to the right. Who's to say if he's really looking at it, but for some reason that has me concerned now.

"AP classes? That's so nice," my Mother talked to Jungkook.

He just smiled politely and made small talk with my Mom. I have to say it's like an episode of Twilight Zone. Because who would have thought I'd be having dinner with the quarterback of our high school football team; a boy prized for not only his athletic ability but also his looks and smarts. Truly, the whole package.

And yet I really hate his guts.

Because it's guys like him that prey on girls and thinks they can get whatever they want. I mean, all the teachers in our grade practically kiss the floor he walks on and pass him on everything. (Although he's already passing everything anyways, but that's besides the point.) It's just so annoying that all the school funding goes to him and the football team, while the rest of us suffer.

He turns to me, and I quickly pick the menu up again, but only realize that the waiter is waiting for me to order. I end up choosing steak with broccoli and a salad. I hate broccoli and salad so much, but being on the spot, I just chose them randomly. I blame Jeon Jungkook.

Dinner went by slowly, but I made sure to keep my mouth busy the whole time so no one would talk to me. So I just did a lot of fake smiling and nodding. My Mom seemed happy enough when we all finished and started leaving the restaurant. I smiled politely and shook Jungkook Dad's hand. Then just left the three standing there as I made my way to Mom's car. I was nearly done with this Twilight Zone episode.

But of course it wasn't over just yet.

Jungkook ran up to me, "Hey wait."

I only stopped because I had reached Mom's car, but it was locked so I couldn't get inside. If I could, I'd get inside and lock the door on him. But I wasn't that lucky.

"Yeah?"

"I'm guessing you're just as weirded out as me."

"Weird is an understatement," I said plainly, looking down at my Mother's boots and wiggling my toes inside.

He slipped his hands in his light jacket with a smirk, "Well, if it keeps going, which it probably will, we might end up as brother and sister."

I stopped wiggling my toes in the boots and froze. I hadn't even thought that. I looked up with a puzzled look and stared. But he just continued to smirk. And I have to admit, he really is handsome. Stunning kind of handsome that leaves me breathless.

"I can tell you don't like me, but let's play nice, yeah? At least for our parents."

The fake mask I had unconsciously put up came crumbling down and I crossed my arms with my own smirk on my face, "I guess you are smart."

"Top of our grade," he said to boast, just to be annoying.

I rolled my eyes, "I didn't ask."

"You're a feisty one," he said as he took a step back; his dad calling for him. "I can't wait to get to know you more Y/N."

"Don't try. We're not friends."

He put on a fake pout, but his dashing smile slipped out, "I'll make you reconsider. Goodnight."

I turned away from him, purposely giving him my back and my arms still crossed. He just chuckled as he jogged away to his Dad while my Mom came around and unlocked the doors. We both got in and I immediately put my seat belt on and got out my phone. She watched me for a second before doing the same then starting up the car to leave.

"So Sweetheart... what do you think? He's nice isn't he?"

"I guess he's ok."

She smiled a little, "I'm so surprised you know his son."

"I don't wanna talk about him Mom."

"Oh," she turned a few times to look at me, "What happened? Did he say something bad to you?"

"No Mom," I rolled my eyes and slouched a bit more in the seat, "Just drop it."

She sighed as she decided to stop pestering, "Ok ok, consider it dropped. Sheesh. This little girl of mine..."

I just sighed as I stared out of the window and regretted having agreed to meet my Mom's boyfriend and his son; Jeon Jungkook. My life really is like a bad episode of Twilight Zone.
