Just like that, the first week of knowing Jeon Jungkook's dad and my mom were together, went by in a flash. I say that because the whole week I just did my best to ignore Jeon Jungkook, and cherish every moment I could with Jimin. But even then, Jimin didn't seem his usual self.
So now that it was Friday, it meant that the whole school was in a good mood. There was a electrifying buzz in the air. Because Friday nights meant Friday night football. And if it was anything that got everyone going, it was football. Personally, I could take it or leave it. It's ok, not the best. I don't understand how people can become such crazy people over it, but it's exciting sometimes to watch.
But seeing as Jeon Jungkook was the quarterback, and I was still on a mission to ignore him, there was no way I was going to a game anymore. Not like I went to them in the first place. But this was even more of a reason not to go.
And yet, here I am sitting in the bleachers with my best friend and his girlfriend.
I really wish I could just go, but I know Jimin would be upset if I did. So I just stay put and pout.
He leaned over and whispered, "I know you're mad, so I'll take you out for ice cream after the game."
"Or we could just go get ice cream now," I nudged his shoulder.
He smiled his perfect smile and it made me swoon inside, "You're funny."
"Yeah, ya know... I try," I said sarcastically, but more so disappointed.
So I just sat there in silence, doing my best not to get annoyed with Seulgi's adorable laugh. Because really, it's adorable and she's adorable. She's so cute and perfect, and somehow sexy and dangerous. I don't know how such a girl can do this in one body, but she figured it out. And of course Jimin fell for it, hook line and sinker. Not that I think she's a bad person and putting a spell on every boy she sees.
But why did it have to be Jimin?
I'm brought back to the game as everyone on our side jumps up from the bleachers and yells in joy. Even Jimin got up and screamed. I remained sitting for just a moment longer, but figured I'd join in. As I stood up I saw the scoreboard change numbers and put us up by a touchdown. It's in the fourth, so this could mean a victory for our school.
I could feel the power of Jungkook's popularity as everyone, from my fellow teens to the parents with them, talked about him and his inept ability. Some guy was even saying he could go pro if he wanted. That he would be so proud if a kid from our town went pro. But as I stared at the football field in search of Jungkook, I realized he really was a star. And I felt light years apart from him.
I don't know why, but it made my gut twist really badly. So I sat down despite everyone still standing. Everyone was still so focused on the last minute of the game, but I wanted nothing more than to leave.
So I stood up quickly, pulled on Jimin's arm and leaned closer to talk into his ear, "I'm gonna go wait at the truck."
"What's wrong," he asked with concern, giving me his full attention.
"I don't feel good."
"We can go then, I don't want-"
"But baby, I want to see the end of the game." Seulgi leaned forward so she could look at me, "It might help to drink some water and get away from the crowd."
"Yeah... thanks." I glanced her way to give her a polite smile, then barely glanced at Jimin, "Take your time."
Before he could say anything further, I turned and started making my way past the few people on our row and walking down the bleachers. The crowd was still roaring as the seconds ticked down, but it felt like I was getting a headache. And it felt like they were the cause. So I hurried down and left our school's stadium to walk through the parking lot to get to Jimin's truck. The doors were locked, as usual, so it left the bed of the truck. As I thought about it, I realised the crowd was still loud, so I decided to just forego his truck altogether and wonder around the campus.
