Kim Taehyung is a good friend of Jimin's. Same age and similar personalities. So when Taehyung's family moved, Jimin was really upset back in middle school. They would talk all the time. Play video games together. And tell each other secrets that they wouldn't tell anyone else.
And while they've grown up, some things haven't changed.
And it's the reason why Jimin finds himself two hours away from home and knocking on the door to Taehyung's house.
It opens up and he's greeted by Taehyung's mother. "Oh my God. Park Jimin? Oh my God!" She stepped out and hugged him tight, "I haven't seen you in so long son! How have you been?"
He smiled wide, "I'm doing great, thank you. I'm sorry to come unannounced."
She pulled back and quickly huddled him inside, "Nonsense, I'm glad you're here. I insist you stay for dinner. I'm cooking now."
"Oh no I couldn't-"
"You can, and you will," she smiled. "Does Taehyung know you're here?"
"Sorta?"
She laughed, "Ok well, you can go ahead and go up to his room. Oh~ It's so good to see you."
"Same here," he smiled back before heading up the stairs to Taehyung's room.
He knocked first and leaned in to listen for any sounds. But thankfully, Taehyung was quick to grunt on the other side and open his door.
"Mom I told you I-" He eyes went wide, "Jiminie?! I thought you said-"
"I decided to come tonight," he smiled weakly.
Taehyung threw his arms around his old friend and gave him a big hug, "Dude! The hell?" He grinned and pulled Jimin inside of his room, closing the door, "I was totally cleaning up, but now that you're here I don't care. I hope you don't care."
Jimin chuckled, "Not at all. My room is a mess too." Although that's a lie.
"What's up man, why did you come today? Can you not hang tomorrow?"
"No I can hang tomorrow, it's just..." Jimin stared off and went silent.
Taehyung hasn't seen Jimin in a long time, but he still knew his friend pretty well. And enough to know when something was wrong. "What happened?"
"Y/N... it's Y/N..."
Taehyung sat a little closer and faced his friend, "Is she ok?"
"No yeah she's fine it's just..." Jimin racked his hand through his hair frustratedly with a tear coming out, "I just fucking messed up and I think... I think I ruined our friendship."
Taehyung was stressed, and he's never stressed. But seeing his old friend tearing up and unhappy stresses him out. "What...happened...?"
"Her mom is dating some guy and that guy turns out to be the father of our school's quarterback. And so, they started talking and stuff. And they were even partners in class. And I don't know. They were just texting each other nonstop. And I noticed she was. And I was getting more and more upset every day. I don't know why. But I was. I was so mad."
He just kept rambling and rambling, nonstop.
"But I just ignored those feelings and told myself to shut up. I'm not her boyfriend or anything, so it's fine. She can talk to whoever she wants to talk to. But the thought of it being Jungkook. And he's.... He's totally not me. I mean shit, he's younger than me, but he's already got so many opportunities for him. And I'm still struggling to get noticed. I don't really know what I wanna do, and high school is almost over. So," he gulped and racked his hand again through his hair, "The more I tried to ignore it, the more pissed off I got. So this past week I ended up exploding. I yelled at her and sounded like such a prick and....."
