Space Bound

Chapter 3

Again my life flashed before my eyes, my breath hitched. I had no time to react, it all happened so fast.

First I was in an accident which nearly killed me and  put me in a coma for 3 months... I thought I had died. But now it's clear I'm gonna die now... right after I get out of the hospital I'm gonna get killed by a idiot driver.

But it so happened I cheated death... again... somehow.

All of a sudden wishing mere seconds I was pushed out of the way. Everything was happing so fast I couldn't put together what had happened until I was on the pavement, noticing the car speeding off.

I rubbed my head, feeling a bit dizzy. That was to be expected, "what the hell..."

I looked up to notice a tall male next to me. He was slightly tanned and had messy black hair with grey eyes, he was staring at me. I felt like he was studying me, "are you ok?"

The male had a slightly deep voice with a strong accent. His hand was offered to me to help me up. Where'd he come from?

I took his hand, "thanks..." I stood up and nearly fell again when Lexi tackled me, "YOU JUST GOT OUT OF THE HOSPITAL WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING ALMOST GETTING HIT By.... a car...." Lexi trailed off, her attention focused on the male.

Seth had his hands in his pocket and watched us both. He was wearing dark jeans and black boots with a dark loose sweater shirt with a silver cross necklace. He stayed quiet.

"NEW GUY... I mean... Seth? Seth!" Lexi stopped hugging me and looked at him, her brown eyes focused on him, "what are you doing here?"

He stayed quiet for a moment as to think of a reply, "I came for ice cream.... and ended up noticing what had happened and saved her.." his accent was more noticeable the more he talked.

Lexi's reaction was priceless, she was completely shocked as she then nudged me, "oh Uhm thank you so much..." I managed to mutter out... I was so captivated by the strange male.

He just nodded before walking off. He was weird.
Lexi then turned to face me and slapped my arm a couple times, "Dude! that was him!" She let out a squeal, "And he just saved You!"

I nodded, "I guess he did" I replied to her as I was already walking to the shop. Zane came running out and ran up to me grabbing my shoulders with both of his hands. He looked serious and it was weird.

"Are you ok?" He asked, his face was serious and painted with worry.

I nodded, "Yeah, I'm lucky Seth saved my" I nodded over to Seth, but at the mention of his name it felt like his grip tightened.

"As long as you're fine" Zane dropped his hands and wrapped one behind my back guiding me to the shop.

I gave a quick glance up at Zane and I swear he was glaring at Seth, who was leaning against his car watching us.

I quickly looked at the car, it was the black Cadillac from earlier who was following us.

I ignored it as we walked inside. Like he said he just wanted ice cream. It was a coincidence that he was... following us.... the whole... way... now that I thought about it that was a bit weird.

Zane dropped his hand and looked at me, " the usual?" I nodded and then quietly walked over to our booth near the window. I watched him and Lexi go to the counter.

In all honesty Zane and Lexi would look good together. I glanced out the window and noticed Seth still leaving against his car, now typing on his phone.

I glanced down at my phone when it buzzed. The time was 8:47 p.m. it was getting late. My expression changed to a confused one. I got a message from an unknown number. I unlocked my phone and read the text 'be more careful next time'

I looked up and saw Seth with his arms crossed. He was looking up at me. I looked back at my phone and texted back, 'how'd you get my number?' I looked up to look at him while he replied but he was gone, along with his truck.

"How...." I asked until I nearly jumped out of my skin when Lexi spoke up sitting next to me.

"Why what?" She asked sipping her milkshake

"Nothing... just spacing off" I looked up as Zane was sitting in front of us, he handed me my ice cream cone, "Thanks" I took the cone and licked the drops of ice cream slowly melting down the cone.

How would he have left with his car in the three seconds I looked away? I would have heard the car turn on... Zane and Lexi went back to chatting.

I just focused on Seth. Who was he.... and where'd he come from? He was so mysterious, I had to find out more about him.
