You had been married to Matt for just over a year. You knew on your first date he was the one you wanted to spend forever with. You both decided you wanted children right away and it didn’t take long to find out you were expecting. Now here you were a week overdue and getting more uncomfortable by the second. You had tried every trick and wives tale Ami could think of to jump start labor. You had spent hours walking back and forth on trails with Birdie and Rain but nothing worked. Matt was getting more anxious by the minute. He was convinced the baby would wait for a stormy day with rocky seas to make his or her appearance. “If the weather is bad how will I get you to the doctor?” You tried to calm his fears to no avail.
That morning you were watching as Matt and his brothers were repairing a leak on their parents roof. You were laughing at the banter going back and forth between the guys when you heard a tiny pop. You looked around for a moment trying to find the source when you felt a trickle of water run down your leg. Your bundle of joy was about to make its appearance.
You look up and yell “Matt, baby it’s time” Matt peers over the edge"time for what?“ You didn’t know whether to scream or throw something at him. Before you had a chance to do either he realized what you meant. He ran over to reach the ladder but his harness caught him and slammed him back onto Bam. Bam yelled at Matt to sit still and let him untie him. As soon as he was free he half climbed half slid down the ladder landing with a thud on his back. He immediately jumped up and ran towards your cabin to get the bags you’ve had packed for weeks. You expected him to come back and help you walk to the skiff but all you see is Matt running down the trail with bags in tow. You look over at Billy and the guys who have the same confused look on their face. A moment later you hear Matt running back down the trail” I’m sorry baby! I’m so sorry! I would never forget you under normal circumstances.“ You were laughing to hard to be upset. But you did suggest he let someone else drive the boat.
