I don’t know how much more I can take” you say looking at Matt.
When you married Matt you knew it would be hard to live in the bush. You had tried to prepare yourself by spending long weekends with him and his family but nothing could have prepared you for this. The work was never ending and your muscles never had a chance to recover.
Matt’s family went out of their way to teach you everything you needed to know. They spent hours teaching you to fish, chop wood, and cook on an open fire. And since learning how to do those things you had never stopped.
“Oh come on” Matt says taking a pile of wood from your arms, “you just need to have some fun!”
“Fun? When am I suppose to have fun? I have a ton of laundry to catch up on, all this wood to stack, and I’m in charge of dinner tonight.”
Matt throws the wood on the pile you had started and wraps his arms around you. “Well Mrs. Brown, I just happen to have a surprise planned for you” he says with a big grin.
“Matt last time you surprised me I was picking a fishhook out of a very delicate place for you.’
"Ahh yes, the love boat surprise” Matt said rubbing his backside. “It still kind of hurts too.”
You shake your head and start to walk away when he grabs your hand and pulls you back. “Really I promise this time it will be great.”
“OK Matt, but if anyone ends up injured this time, no more surprises” You say.
“Hey you have to admit what we were doing when I was impaled with that hook was pretty fun” Matt said wiggling his eyebrows. “But deal! I promise you’ll enjoy it.”
The next morning you wake up, get dressed, and prepare for another long day of work. You step outside expecting to see everyone hard at work but instead see them carrying their bags out to the skiff. Confused you stand and stare at them for a moment until you spot Matt walking towards you. “Babe what in the world is going on?” You ask.
“Surprise!” Matt yells with his arms stretched out.
“Surprise? What’s the surprise, you’re family’s abandoning us?”
“Exactly! We have Brown Town all to ourselves for the night” Matt exclaims.
Still confused, Matt explains that his family took a quick hauling job and he had arranged for the two of you to stay behind.
“Oh, that is a pretty good surprise” you say wrapping your arms around Matt kissing his cheek.
You and Matt spend the day racing to complete your chores so you can enjoy your night. Finally, late in the afternoon you were finished.
“Ok babe, go change into your swimming suit and meet me at the hot tub in 5” Matt said with a not so innocent smile.
You giddily run back towards your cabin and pick out a suit. You decide on a 2 piece that you would normally never wear but since you were alone you decided to go for it. Wrapping a towel around your waist you head for the hot tub.
As the homemade hot tub comes into view you are shocked by what you see. All around the edge of it are beautifully lit candles. Stepping closer you can see flower pedals floating in the water and a stereo hooked to a generator off to the side.
“Welcome to the first annual Brown Town hot tub party!” Matt says stepping out to great you.
“Aww Babe this is great” you say walking over to him. You wrap your arms around his neck and lightly kiss his lips. Feeling his grip tighten on you, you pull away fighting the urge to continue.
“Not so fast, I want to see what this hot tub party is all about” you say turning to walk towards the water. As you you slowly unwrap the towel from yourself you turn around and flash a seductive smirk at your husband.
“Dang woman, are you trying to kill me?” Matt asks as he starts to remove his boots as fast as possible.
As you sink into the warm water you feel your muscles begin to relax. This was definitely what you needed. You open your eyes as you hear Matt mumbling to himself and see him struggling to take off his clothes. As you watch him hop from one foot to the other you laugh quietly and ask “Matt, where are your swimming trunks?”
“You’re looking at them!” He says proudly standing in a pair of lime green boxers.
After months of marriage that man could still make you blush and that’s exactly what you did as he climbed in the hot tub. He sat beside you putting one am around your shoulder. You lean your head back on his arm and you both sit quietly, relaxing in the water.
“Alright enough of this” Matt suddenly said standing up. “I promised you would have fun now lets get to it.”
As he leaned over to the stereo you had noticed earlier you couldn’t help but wonder where this was going. “Matt, what are you doing?”
“I like to call this a hot tub slash dance party!” He excitedly yelled.
As the music came on you couldn’t help the laughter that came flowing out.

As Matt danced around in his bright boxers the tears rolled down your cheeks.
“Come and dance with me baby!” Matt motioned you over with his hands.
“There is now way I’m doing that!” You managed to get out between laughs. “Besides, I’m enjoying the show.”
“Oh come on, let’s have some fun!” He says grabbing your hands pulling you up.
Now you were both dancing in the middle of the hot tub. You alternated between dancing against each other and busting out the silliest moves you could think of. All too soon the song ends and as you stand there laughing trying to catch your breath you hearing clapping in the background.
“Uh guys, what are you doing?” You hear Billy quietly ask.
You spin around to see the entire family watching you. You see Bam shaking his head with a smirk, Bear with a giant grin holding up a thumbs up, and Gabe unable to breathe from laughter. Mortified you sink back into the water hoping to disappear.
“Well, we’re just having a little hot tub party” Matt answers as he looks down at you trying not to laugh. “ I thought you guys were gone for the night.”
“Well our job got called off because of weather so we decided to head home” Billy answered back. “We’ll just leave you guys to yourselves.”
As the family finally started to walk away Matt sank down next to you laughing. As he looked at your face you didn’t even need to speak. “Alright alright, no more surprises.”
