This is not a one shot, but instead it's an outline for an Au. Falsettos is one of my favorite shows so I had fun making this. (this is also on my Amino)
1. The unlikely lovers
The show centers around Marvin. Before the show begins, or where the first show featuring him, In Trousers, kicks off, he has a wife, Trina, and a son, Jason. Throughout In Trousers, Marvin comes to terms with his sexuality, realizing that he's gay. He then divorces Trina and starts dating Whizzer. The two of them are always arguing with each other, but despite that, they do love each other. I thought that Logan and Roman fit the most as this pair. I see Logan as Marvin and Roman as Whizzer. The song "The Thrill of First Love" is my reasoning. There are just those lines here and there, like Whizzer saying that Marvin "doesn't share my devotion to style," or the two of them fighting over how long they've been together for. There's a shorter explanation in my playlist challenge, but the songs that Marvin and Whizzer sing with or about each other definitely remind me of Logince.
2. The Ex
I saw Virgil as Trina. Both have gone through their share of troubles. Virge has admitted to being self deprecating and according to Mendel, the psychiatrist, Trina is insecure. They both just need some love and appreciation. Act one is sort of like the videos before Accepting Anxiety. The family doesn't seem as "Tight-Knit" as Marvin would want it to be. It's only after Trina remarries and Jason's Bar Mitzvah approaches, or in Virgil's case, getting accepted by the others, things might look better. Things actually probably get even more hectic though. I think that Trina's part in "Love is Blind" or "I'm Breaking Down" are good backups for my reasons.
3. The psychiatrist.
I think that Patton is a great fit for Mendel. Both of them are adorable beans who are tied to feelings. Mendel might be a psychiatrist, but he also has a lot of emotional baggage. We saw that Pat repressed his feelings in Moving On and was pushed to the side in Growing Up. I am aware that this casting results in something that I don't ship romantically but I think that Pat fits the most as Mendel and Virge fits the most as Trina. This is evident in "A Marriage Proposal" and "A Day in Falsettoland." Many of Mendel's songs justify my point as well.
4. The Kid.
As I mentioned earlier, Marvin and Trina have a kid named Jason. I thought that Thomas himself would be a good fit. Jason is essentially the center of the family, especially in act 2/Falsettoland, and he is probably more mature than any of the adults (besides the next door neighbors but we'll get to them). I thought that this casting was the best because of the aforementioned connection to family and the effects that happen.
5. The Next-Door neighbors
They're not part of the immediate family but they seem just as close. Marvin's next-door neighbors, Dr. Charlotte and Cordelia are just as important as the others. They're a great couple and great friends to the others. I thought that Joan and Talyn would fit these roles. They do so much and are awesome. I mean, they have even appeared in some of the Sanders Sides videos. I think that the two of them fit the roles the best.
