Chapter 23: being different
Since meeting Madeline, Piper and Clary had started to look into who she was in order to work if her story was true which led them to learning that she had went to the academy at the same time as Jocelyn which is how they became friends. It also explained how Jocelyn got the sleeping potion since it was the one thing that never seemed to make since to Luke but this made things much clearer since Madeline would have been able to see what Valentine was doing as well as what he was planning in terms of Jocelyn and her family, however it made things a little more complicated since they knew that they couldn't really turn to anyone for help before they knew what they had to do to get her to wake Jocelyn up or what it would take to wake her up which was why they planned on meeting her to discuss things. Piper decided to dress like the fierce shadow hunter she had always been or had been before Jace by wearing a pair of red plaid trousers, a long sleeved white crop top that stopped just before her belly button, a pair of black Chelsea boots and a black leather jacket. She decided to shake out her curls and make them messier than they usually were, she wore peach smoked eyes and pale pink lipstick. Just as they were about to leave to meet Madeline when her phone began to ring showing that it was someone calling from the institute as Piper groaned and rolled her eyes as she took the call
" if this is about some demon attack on New York then I'll be there as soon as and if not then I'm sure this can wait" Piper said not allowing the person on the other side to talk first about why they were calling
" there's no attack but this can't wait I'm afraid. It seems that Clary isn't the one with unusual abilities, is there something you forgot to tell me and the Clave?" Maryse said making Piper stop still at this
" what are you talking about?" Piper said suddenly worrying about what she was meaning since she had been trying to keep the fact that she could do unusual things herself from the Clave because of this
" according to the reports from the boat remains and from the footage we found, the boat just exploded or someone caused it to explode" she said hinting to the fact that she knew about Piper
" clearly you know more than I do, let me guess I come to the institute Clave are going to imprison me again?" She said as Clary caught her eyes as she wondered what was going on as she began to worry
" no, no one is going to imprison you and the Clave don't know yet but we do have to explore these powers and you have to learn control over them" she said looking at the pictures of her hands looking like lightening
" and if I don't then what?" She said trying so hard to hide the pain and the fear from her voice since she was still so scared about her abilities compared to Clary's who seem to be so angelic and perfect
" Piper, don't make this anymore difficult than it has to be okay? Just come in and we'll work it out, plus you aren't the only one" she said pleading with her since she knew how stubborn she could be sometimes
