The Other One

Friend or Foe?

He stood up and walked towards me. "Hi Ana. I was just here helping Jasmine with her studies".
"Yeah I'm sure you were". I crossed my arms and raised my eyebrow. "Ana!" Jasmine said in shock. Liam chuckled. "I hope you don't mind if I stay for a bit. I really like to get to know you guys. It seems that I don't have enough friends".
"Right..." I said sarcastically. "But what about the lacrosse team? Aren't those your friends?"
"Those are my teammates. Most of them I don't consider them as friends".
"Hey I'm gonna go get some pizza. So you two be nice". Jasmine said as she took the keys and left out the door. I put my backpack down to the side. "Ana I want you to know that I'm not like those other guys. I swear. If you get to know me I'm sure you'll change your mind".
"It's just hard to believe that you can be a nice guy when you hang out with Grayson Dolan". He laughed. "Grayson? He's my best friend. He's a really good guy trust me. He maybe a pain in the ass but deep down he's a sweetheart". Oh if only he heard you say that. I quietly laughed to myself. "Hey Ana don't we have Art together?" I was confused.
"Yeah we do. I just sit in the back behind you". That's why I didn't know. He sits behind me. "I love your drawing. It's very beautiful".
"Thank you. I try but I don't think they're good".
"Are you kidding me? Those are amazing. I wouldn't be surprised if they were in the art show".
"What about you?"
"Me? I'm single".
"No that's not what I meant".
"Oh...well what about you?"
"What about me?"
"Single? I'm sure you are because of Jasmine being all strict".
"First of all, Jasmine doesn't tell me what to do and secondly I have a boyfriend".
"Oh really? Who?"
"Why do you care?"
"I'm just curious".
"Ethan".
"Ethan? Grayson's brother?" I nodded my head. I seen his jaw clenched. "Is something wrong?"
"What?-oh no. That's just-um wow. Well I'm happy for you both. Ethan deserves someone like you". I raised my brow. He then grabbed his phone. "Oh I gotta go. Tell Jasmine I'm sorry". I nodded. He then left. What the hell?! Was that weird or was it just me? I sat on the couch and decided to call my mom. I texted her good morning and everything but I haven't fully talked to her. I was just trying to avoid that conversation that we were suppose to have. I took and deep breath and called her.
It then picked up. "Hi mom!"
"Ana! Oh my gosh! It's so good to hear your voice".
"Yeah it's good to hear your voice too".
"So how you been? What's school like? Tell me everything".
"Everything?"
"Yes".
I told her about my classes and about Ethan being my boyfriend.
"Ethan? Ethan Dolan?"
"Yes". She stayed quiet on the phone for a while. "Mom I know what happened. Ethan told me. He was so sorry".
"I know he is. I didn't blame him for anything. You guys were just kids and it was a horrible accident".
"Yeah...".
"Are you using protection?"
"Ma!"
"I'm just asking". I could feel my face turn hot. I'm pretty sure it's red at this point.
"Ma even if we were I would. Besides I barley started dating him! Plus I'm not ready".
I could hear a relieved sigh escape from her on the other side of the phone. "Mom. I have to ask you something".
"Anything my dear".
"Why didn't you tell me what I am?"
"You mean a royal?" She sighed. "Ana I wanted to protect you. I didn't want it to be true. I wish you weren't. I wanted you to have a normal life but with this. I just couldn't. I didn't want to believe it".
"How did you know?"
"Well I knew your father was. Then when I had you. I noticed you never got sick. When you would get a cut or scrap it would heal instantly. When you were in my stomach. I never had pains or anything like that. Having you was easy. No pain at all. I knew you were special. Of course if these things didn't happen I would still thought you were special anyways". I smiled.
"What happened to dad?"
"You were in the hospital. In the coma. Your father and I had an argument. He wanted to go hunting. I told him that he should stop doing that. He needed to be with us. Then later on that night he was gone. He vanished. I never heard from him since". I then sighed. "I'm so sorry, Ana. I wanted to tell you".
"I know. I understand. Anyways have you been taking your medication?"
"Yes" I heard her coughing. "Well get better".
"I will I promise. I gotta go. I love you".
"I love you too. Goodnight". She then hung up. Jasmine came in with pizza. "Where's Liam?"
"He had to leave". She looked a little sad. "Well the more pizza for us". I then laughed. Once we ate pizza, Jasmine had to leave with Edward. They had to do a look out. Whatever that meant. All I knew was that I had the house to myself. I stayed up for a while watching Netflix in my room. I then fell asleep. I woke up to the sound of something knocking on my window. I looked at my tv. I wasn't sleeping for long. I looked at the doorway that lead to the balcony. I seen a figure there. I slowly walked up to it. I then peeked out of my curtain. It was Ethan.
