Ewww. It’s 8:03 am. No one should have to get up this early. I get out of bed and grasp my crutches, day two of them and I’m doing good! I mean pretty well for a clumsy blonde.. :/ I get ready for school. White t-shirt and ripped jean short shorts with red flip flops. I put on some light pink lip gloss, mascara, eyeliner, and I’m out the door.

“Bridge! You gotta eat something! Here’s a bagel,” says my mom from the driver’s seat.

“Mom, you know I don’t eat breakfast.” She pushes the bagel into my hands anyway, soft and hot, just the way I like it. I take one bite and my mouth comes alive. My mom makes the best bagels in the world, with her famous cream cheese spread on top. We pull into the school parking lot, I get out and bang my head on the car door, “FRICK!”

“Hey young lady, watch your language!”

“Sorry, Mom..”

“Have a good day, call me if you’re having issues with your crutches I’ll pick you up. I don’t have to go into the shop today.”

“Kaype. Later.”

I hobble into the school and get to my locker. So far, so good. There are no signs of Bradley so I quickly do my combo and look for my books. Great. Just awesome. I left my backpack at home. Damn. I get out my phone and text me mom,

Forgot backpack in bedroom, can you grab it for me?

I press send and here a scream and turn to three girls running at me. Josie, Amber, Kelsey. My three best friends. I haven’t seen them since the last day of school before the break.

“GUISEEEE!” I screech. There are a few people in the hallway who look at me like I’m a total freak what ever I know I’m weird. They should be getting use to it anyways. :P

“I can’t believe you broke your leg!” says Josie, playfully hitting my arm.

“Dumb blonde!” says Kelsey as she pinches my tanned cheeks.

“Guys, come on! Give the girl a break, she’ll need it after she hears the news.” Amber putting her arms out for a hug. I quickly let go of my crutches to give her a hug and then steady myself. I quickly grab my crutches before they hit the ground, or the girls take them.

“What news?”

The girls look at each other for a few minutes and then to the ground.

“Seriously guys! What?”

“Who wants to tell her…?” ask Kelsey.

My face starts to heat up. What are they not telling me?! I really hate secrets. Or surprises. I mean I guess I like them.. Ugh, whatever.

“Tell me what?!” I ask, a huge smile on my face. Maybe they got into the play with me!

“We uhh… We saw Josh yesterday..” says Amber looking at the ground still.

Oh no. Here we go again. The infamous Josh. We met at life guarding and dated all summer long, but he dumped me at a beach bonfire because I wouldn’t “go all the way with him.” He’s a senior here at north Shore and I was kind of excited to see him again, but the way Amber said that? I’m not sure I wanted to anymore.

“So? Where is he? I wanna see him!”

“No Bridge.. It’s not good news…” says Kelsey. She takes a deep breathe and looks me in the eyes. I quickly look away. What aren’t they telling me!? “He was with Lindsay.”

“Lindsay? Who’s Li-.. Oh..”

Lindsay is Josh’s ex. Senior. Tall. Skinny. Super tanned. Never has any zits. Total fashion model material. And along with her good looks, comes a bitchy attitude.
