'I need your love to guide me back home'

Tuesday Evening, Zayn's P.O.V

I walk up Lauren's driveway and knock on the door, her mother opens the door and smiles at me.

"Nice to see you again, Zayn." She steps aside and lets me in, "Lauren and Jordan are upstairs already." She smiles again and walks into the kitchen.

"Okay, thanks." I run my hair through my hair nervously. I walk into the hallway on the left, I walk up the stairs. I knock o the door that I hear voices behind. I hear foots steps and the door swings open.

"For the last time mom! I don't like Zay--" She widens her eyes when she sees who it is.

"I'm so sorry, I thought you were my mother." She rushes to say, but I couldn't help my face fall at what she said. I knew she never could like someone like me but a little part of my head thought it could happen. Now I know it will never happen.

"It's okay," I smile, only if she knew it was fake.

"Well let's get started then." Jordan says, running a hand through his longish curly brown hair. "So before you got here Laur and I were just setting it up." He says pointing to a small model on her bed. I walk in and sit awkwardly on her desk chair. I fiddle with my hands while he talked.

We finally finished the project at 9 at night, which meant I have to walk home in the dark because my stupid parents wouldn't let me get a car.

"It's getting late, I think I might head out." I say, standing up for the end of her bed.

"I'll walk you out." Lauren says, I watch as her brother smirks at her and she just sticks her tongue out. I laugh lightly at the two.

"I'm still really sorry about what happened earlier. I didn't mean for you to hear that." She says, as we get to the front door.

"I kinda got that." I grumble.

"It's not what you think. I was just saying that so she would get off my back."

"So what are you saying?" I ask confused.

"I um... kinda...lik--"

"Lauren! Get in here!!" Her mother yells from inside. She turns around and ells back.

"I'm saying goodbye to Zayn. Just wait!" She turns back to me and gives a sad smile. "I'm sorry, I'll talk to you at school." She gives a small wave, turns, and shuts the door in my face. I bet she doesn't even wan to be seen with me at school. I turn and walk down the steps getting ready for along walk home, but the door opens and Lauren comes out.

"You really think I was going to let you walk home alone?" She laughs and points to a blue 2018 Ford Escape. Wow. This is way better than my sisters little red Honda. "Get in." She says, swinging keys around her finger.

"This your car?" I ask, while jumping in the passenger seat.

"Yeah,"

"How come you were walking to school the other day?" I ask, realizing how stalkerish I sounded.

She gives me a weird look but answers anyways,"It was in the shop, there was something wrong with the brakes." She says turning the keys and starting the car. "I'm going to need to know where you live." She says, pulling out of the driveway.

"Oh yeah, I guess that be use full."

~~

"Well this is it." I say, looking out the car window at the run down apartment building in I live in.

"Well, goodnight Zayn, And thanks for helping with the project." She turns to me and smiles. I unbuckle my seat bet and turn.

"So what were you saying before your mother interrupted?" I ask, nervously.

"Oh..." She says, her tone changed in seconds. "It doesn't matter, anymore." She said, brushing it off.

"O-okay. Well I'll see you tomorrow." I wave and hop out of the car. I walk up the front door of the building and turn around, but she's already gone.
