Today was the day!
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, had finally come out!!!
You were beyond excited.
As soon as you finished school you rushed over to the book store with your money. You ran into the store not caring about the rude looks people threw at you and made your way to the science section.
"Oh excuse me, pardon me, sorry." You mumbled quick apologies as you pushed yourself fast a group of people crowding the... romance section. The thought of it made you shudder.
You took a quick turn and that's when you saw it. In the middle of the isle, on its own little display table, stood the book. It was honestly breathtaking (well at least for you).
You had to resist the urge to burst into you happy dance as you slowly approached it. It had taken 3 months of waiting to get to this moment and it was just... perfect (well at least for you).
Every time an new book was released by Douglas Adams, when you'd get there, they'd be no where to be seen. In the end you'd have to order it online (if it wasn't already out of stock) or download it on Ebook.
Just as you were about to reach and take the book, a hand with long bony fingers swiped the book away.
Just.
Like.
That.
"Wha-!?" You abruptly turned to face this incredibly rude person, "Hey!"
There in all their their glory stood the most attractive human being you'd ever seen on the planet. He had nice skin that had the littlest creamy tint and a pair of dark circular glasses. He wore a white dress shirt and a dark sweater with pants, complemented by a wooly red stripped scarf he had wrapped around his neck.
In other words, he looked like a nerd (like you).
But he was a really good looking nerd (unlike you).
But, you weren't gonna get his looks get in the way of the book.
"Too slow." He smirk.
You frowned, "What? Hey, no! That's not fair! Please!" As much as you hated to admit it, you felt tears begin to fork in your eyes.
"I am not giving up this book anymore. I have waited for so long." The stranger said flipping through the pages, "Na now it's finally here. In my hands." He smelled one of the pages and let out a sigh contentment.
"I-I've been waiting too." Your voice cracked and you fought back the for to cry.
Why cry in front of someone you just met?
He paused, "Are you crying?"
"No." Your voice was bitter and you looked down.
"Y-yeah y-you a-are." He imitated your voice.
You stuck our your hand, "Can I please just have the book?" You sniffled looking up at him.
Yep.
You were crying.
Weaaaaaak!
The mans smile twitched and he frowned, "Oh... You really are crying...I'm sorry..." he suddenly brought you into a hug.
I jerked at the sudden contact. You didn't like the physical contact, let alone if it was from a complete stranger...
That smelled really good.
He smelled like a Author, if that was a scent. Like fresh cut paper and ink with a hint of cologne. Truly a wonderful mix.
He pulled back and held you by the shoulders looking you in the eyes with a half smile on his face, "Hey, I'm sorry about making you cry... To be honest I wasn't really interested in the book. Or even interested at all."
You frowned and he dropped his hands from your shoulders, letting them fall to his sides.
"Yeah... I've saw you-okay not saw you, but I've watched you a couple of times come to this book store and I thought you were really cute. You'd come in all excited and would sit down to read your book with such a cute smile on your face... I tried talking to you but I didn't want to disturb you."
You blinked.
"Sorry if that sounds creepy-"
You swiped the book from out of his hands and made a run for it.
