"When you're sad, smile for yourself and when you're unhappy dance for yourself."
Pari finished her last dance class for the day giving the guideline to the students as they watched her with a smile on their faces. She admired their happy faces, feeling contended to bring smile on the faces of those who weren't even related to her, yet they brought immense satisfaction to her.
As the students left the class, filled with new energy, she packed her stuff ready to leave like her routine. So much has changed since last two months.
She was now the Head of the Dance Department; all the major decisions related to the annual functions to the small dance programmes to arranging the musical instruments were done by her. When she had received the news, a month back that she was promoted as the head, her happiness knew no bounds.
It was the first good news she had received after the mess that surrounded her. Thinking of the mess, she didn't fail to recall Sameer whom she hadn't seen for two months now. The divorce would be finalized in another two month, but they still haven't conversed with the other after that.
Getting the dates in the court was the toughest task she thought but he did the official work conveying the details to her father rather than her directly.
She knew he was around her; he hadn't left her alone, but he didn't make his presence known to her ever.
He was like her unseen shadow who had vowed to protect her without staying beside her. Though, she didn't need his protection, but she knew it was an attempt on his part to at least fulfil his one duty before they part ways officially.
She made her way out of the school hanging her bag on her shoulder. She couldn't spot any cab or auto, thus she started to walk towards the cab stand. Feeling the thick and freezing wind gush around, she wrapped her scarf properly around herself when she felt as if she was being followed.
She took out her umbrella ready to beat the one who dared to think of following her.
Taking a deep breath, she turned around to only slam her umbrella into the man's face who was after her.
"Shit!" She heard the familiar voice and the umbrella dropped from her hand at his feet. She bit her lip apologetically as he was struggling to open his eyes.
"Sameer!"
"Yeah who else?" He held his one eye trying to peek through the other and he saw her making faces at his activity.
"At least help. Blow air or something or do you want to stand here like a statue."
Irritated, she stepped closer to him, and without any further word, he bowed his head down since she couldn't reach his height until he bowed. Without touching him, she blew air in his eye and he kept on watching her keenly. It was after ages, she was near him again and it suddenly invoked some unusual feeling inside him which he always felt when he reread her letters late in the night to remind himself of the hurt he had caused her and how his actions have broken her self-worth at one point of time.
But she was getting back on track again and it made him happy. If not for himself, he wanted to be happy for her.
"It's done," she moved back from him awkwardly and he looked away from her.
"Amm..... let's have coffee. I want to show you something." She frowned hearing him.
"Are you ordering me again, stupid man?"
"God! No. I'm requesting you."
"Stupid man, when you make a request then you add please. Don't forget." She corrected him, and he joined both his hands in front of her, accepting her suggestion.
