dear insomnia: a slam poem
dear insomnia,
from your close friend,
we've known each other for quite sometime now,
you always took me on those midnight adventures,
but your "adventures" slowly started draining all the energy within me,
because of you and your tricks,
I have a messed up sleeping schedule,
but our relationship is classified as abusive to others,
you force me to stay up,
you force me to think thoughts I rather not recognize,
but since I have those long nights with you,
I have nothing better to do.
I thought you were my friend insomnia,
you kept me awake for when I wanted to,
but now you are getting out of control,
sleeping pills do affect you either,
it's like you're bulletproof to them,
what I'm saying is insomnia,
is that it's not me,
it's you.
you need to leave me alone,
I cherish my sleep,
but in the end,
you just keep coming back to me.
I guess,
you want "one more" adventure.
