The first week of October we stayed at home, except for the Bella and Edward, and Carlisle and I spent a lot of time in my office to plan Carlie’s christening. Carlie was mostly with us and lay in her rocking chair and played with some toys, other than that, Alice, Rose or someone else took her to play with her. Carlie recently really clung to Jasper whenever he was around and wanted to be picked up, always with a huge grin on her small face.
She was only two months old, but knew already who she wanted to hold her. Emmett was sometimes even grumbling about how she thought that Jasper was more fun than him and Alice always watched them lovingly.
But right now she was with us, babbling and playing with a bright red plush dice that could sing. Carlisle just came back changing her and I then gave her the bottle so that she was playing contently now.
In the meantime Carlisle and looked at location for the christening, but I didn’t like the idea of doing it in a big church with many other people, I rather imagined it to be a magical place with just our family and I wanted it to be traditional.
We looked some more until Carlisle showed me a photo of a little chapel in the middle of a forest. I loved it the moment I saw it. “That one, were is it?” I asked him. “That is in the outskirts of London.” “The chapel is perfect, don’t you think?” We were standing at my desk, facing each other. Behind us was Carlie. Carlisle smile at me knowingly and kissed me. “I thought that you would say that. That is the chapel my father was priest in. It is now listed, but they might make an exception for the person, that is funding it.” I looked at him surprised. “Why didn’t you tell me before? If you also thought that it is perfect?” “I didn’t want to base our decision on its history, but as you like it as well. I would say we found the perfect location.” “Definitely,” I told him and put my arms around his neck to kiss him. “And there won’t be a problem?” I asked. “Probably not. I still have close contact with the priest there. I will call him tonight.” “Okay, then we could tick off one thing on our list.”
The next thing we had to arrange was the choice of clothes. Alice wanted to help me with it. I really liked it if we were all dressed in light and fitting colors. “Do you know where Carlie’s christening gown is?” Carlisle asked. “I think it is in her closet. Alice hang it in there after the nursery was finished,” I answered.
“What would you say to the idea of dressing us girls according to our times?” “Like Bella’s wedding? I think that would be a great idea. Though I would suggest that the men wear traditional tuxedos.” “I thought so, too. Although I would like to have a motto for her christening.” “Like what?” “I’m not sure. We will have a traditional baptism, won’t we?” “Yes,” he answered. "We could design the dresses old-fashioned and Carlie’s gown is already designed to suit that time. What do you say?” I asked enthusiastically. “I would love it,” he smirked and embraced me from behind.
We talked some more about designs and the decorations, until Carlie started to wail and Carlisle consequently picked her up to play with her. We already spent the entire midday and afternoon with planning and the sketches of the christening were all ready.
I arranged some plans for the festivities whereas Carlisle was later calling Mr. Jones to check whether our plans were working. He still held Carlie in one arm and held his phone with the other. Subconsciously he rocked Carlie around and she watched him interested. I smiled at both of them. After a twenty-minute phone call, Carlisle thanked the man and put the phone away. “He was more than fine with our idea. We just need to call him when we would like to have the christening and he will arrange everything.
“Great! How about the end of October or rather the beginning of November? I think we should be able to plan everything until then,” I asked. “We should be able to do that. But we need to talk to the principal to arrange that for Bella and Edward.” “We could go tomorrow,” I said enthusiastically. He smirked and laughed. “Then we will do so,” he answered.
It was already getting late and Carlie was yawning, so we devided our tasks so that I changed Carlie into her night gown and Carlisle will get her a bottle. She then was snuggled into light grey pajamas and her blanket. “Ready for bed, sweetheart?” I asked her smiling. I was sitting in the rocking chair in the corner of her nursery and rocked her lightly. She was holding one of her stuffed animals and was watching me. “Soon we will fly to England,” I cooed, “Yes, we will, to your christening,” I said and she laughed. I laughed back at her and kissed her forehead. She babbled and swung the animal around.
“Here comes the bottle,” Carlisle announced and kneeled in front of us. Carlie concentrated on him and giggled. “Ready to eat?” he asked her and gave me the bottle to feed her. She grabbed it with both her hands and played with it. We both watched our beautiful daughter.
After that, I put her down into her crib and made the music and light on. “Sleep well, Carlie,” I said and kissed her just like Carlisle. She watched us but then soon watched the mobile and her eyes slowly closed. I smiled at our angel and we quietly left the room.
We went downstairs to find Alice for the design of the dresses, well, I was rather looking for her. Carlisle sat down on the sofa and talked with Edward and Bella. “She’s in the dining room, if you are looking for Alice,” Jasper told me. “Thank you,” I smiled and went to Alice.
She was sitting on the table with her pad. “Alice? Would you help me with the designs for Carlie’s christening?” “Of course,” she answered enthusiastically and we talked hours about the designs. Alice wanted to talk to some designers tomorrow to finish the dresses as soon as possible and I was nearly sleeping on the table, so I went to bed around 2 a.m…
