Val's POV
I entered the coffeehouse at exactly ten o'clock and Henri was already sitting at our table but Nadia wasn't here yet. That's how these mornings always went Henri was five minutes early, I was on time and Nadia was seven minutes late. Anyways I went over to the counter and ordered an iced vanilla cappuccino and a rice crispy square. Henri was sitting there sipping her green tea smoothie and chocolate chip cookie. Nadia would order a frozen hot chocolate and a glazed donut when she got here.
That was unless there was a hot guy here in that case she had an orange instead of a glazed donut. We were all the same in many ways and yet we were each unique just the way things should be. I'd been friends with these two are as long as I can remember they were at every birthday and it was hard to find me a picture of me without those two in it. All through preschool, elementary school, middle school and high school we'd been inseparable. We had fights sometimes but we always got back together and were stronger than ever. “Hey Val”, Henri said as I joined her.
“Hey Henri how are you today?” I said sitting down in the car opposite her.
“Other than the fact that it’s raining I’m doing great, how are you?” she asked looking out the window.
“I’m good I have big news but we have to wait for Princess Nadia to arrive”, I said sipping my cappuccino.
“Here she comes”, she said and I looked out the window to see her crossing the street talking to some guy.
“Give it up for bachelor number seventeen”, I said in a deep voice.
“I think I’m beginning to see the pattern in all these guys”, Henri said taking a big swig of her drink.
“They’re all body builders”, I nodded.
“Hey guys”, Nadia said joining us a few minutes later.
“Hello your highness who was your little friend?” I asked as she sat down next to me.
“His name is Paris and he’s totally hot”, she said proudly.
“So you’re two minutes late for our awesome coffee party because of some guy”, Nadia said faking hurt.
“He’s hot but I’m here now let the Sunday coffee party begin”, she said raising her glass.
“Cheers”, I said tapping my glass against hers then Henri’s.
“I swear in sixty years we’re going to be little old ladies coming to the coffee house on Sunday for our coffee party”, Henri said with a big smile.
“Nadia drinks too much and has bad food habits so she might not have any teeth”, I teased.
“We’ll be having a tea party by that time anyways”, Nadia said with a laugh.
“So what is your big news did Derek try to ask you out again?” Henri asked leaning forward.
“No”, I said with a smile.
“Did you get over ten million reads on your stories or something?” Nadia questioned.
“Nope”, I said cheerfully.
“Have you been drinking this morning?” Nadia asked suspiciously.
“Not even close”, I said shaking my head.
“Do you have a boyfriend?” Henri asked excitedly.
“No do you want to just tell you guys?” I asked munching on my square.
“Yes”, they both said and I rolled my eyes.
“Well last night I got home and went to bed but I couldn’t sleep right so I go and do some laundry and my phone starts buzzing inside the pants I threw in the laundry”, I said casually, “I take it out before turning on the washer and this guy asks me to define what kind of washer I was talking about”.
