I froze, unable to process my own thoughts. Should I run? Should I hide? Do I stay put? None of those seemed any wiser than the next, yet I felt that I had to do something. The silhouette of the person who - upon closer observation, definitely had Adrien's stature - stayed frozen as well; as unmoving and lifeless as a statue. It was in that moment that it suddenly sank in: I was being observed as well.

I can't lead him to my house, I thought. But I have to leave, now.

I let my instincts take over as I turned on my heel and ran as fast as my legs would allow, taking care to make as many random turns as I could. Every few seconds, I glanced over my shoulder to ensure that I wasn't being followed. When I was sure that I had lost Adrien, I had to slow to a jog to get bearings on my surroundings.

Somehow, I had ended up on the outskirts of town, where the industrial community began. Feeling paranoid still, I had to sneak one more glance behind me. My heart stopped when I caught sight of Adrien, mask-less now due to the disappearance of the sun's harmful rays. It was most definitely Adrien.

I was foolish to think I could've outrun him; he can run faster because he drinks human blood. But I continued running anyway, hoping to finally lose him in the industrial community. It was like its own town; people in construction worked there during the day, and upon dusk they would return to their temporary dwellings, where they'd live until their construction job was complete. I heard that most, if not all, of them live in towns and cities many hours away, and so this way of living was simply more convenient for them.

I turned down an alleyway between two large, gray structures, and when I reached the other side of it I turned around once again, only to find Adrien standing right behind me. The smirk that lifted the corner of his mouth told me that this whole time, I wasn't running away from him.

I was being herded. He had me exactly where he wanted me. "Wha...what is your problem?" I blubbered, slowly backing away from him. I stopped when it felt like I had hit a wall. Startled, I turned around to find that I had actually ran in to Demeille. "Okay, seriously guys. What's going on, here?" I scoffed in annoyance, distancing myself from both of them.

"Well," Adrien began. "We thought that since you're the reason Demeille was turned into a human, it's only fitting that you watch him become a vampire again."

My heart dropped. "Seriously?" I turned to Demeille, who wore a sinister grin. "You really don't want to do this, Demeille. You were finally not a monster."

"Yeah, and what do you care?" He spat. "You never though twice about me before. But now that I'm weaker than you, oh, you're okay with that."

"What I'm okay with is that you can't hurt anybody anymore, Demeille. And that means a lot. I honestly can't understand why you want to be a monster."

He rolled his eyes, ignoring me. "Adrien, we gonna do this or what?"

Adrien nodded, before holding his hand out at me. "You are going to stay right there," he demanded. To my surprise, I immediately felt like I was glued to the ground; no, that I was part of the ground; and I was completely unable to move.

Did he do this? No, there's no way. He's not even in my Science of Spells class, so he wouldn't even know a basic freezing spell. This is something else...

I watched helplessly as Demeille offered his neck to Adrien, who bared his fangs and sunk them into Demeille's flesh. He cried out in pain, but it was over before he knew it, as Adrien quickly retracted his fangs.

Demeille fell to the ground, every inch of his body twitching as vampire DNA fused with his own.

Adrien smiled in satisfaction, rubbing his hands together in anticipation. "Now, he just needs to drink human blood and voila, we've got old Demeille back." That's the thing about creating a new vampire; it requires human blood. Nyris doesn't have the same properties that would enable it to complete a transformation; that's not why it was created.
