Armani waved at Karis from the opposite side of the indoor private running track she reciprocated. It was too cold to be running outside this time of the year.
Marni sprinted over to Karis, "Hey Corybaby," she mocked it was the name AJ saved Karis as in his phone. He used to call her that when they were together.
"Come out with me and the boy's later."
"Don't call me that and No." Karis looked up at her from her shoelaces one strand in one hand and the other strand in her right, "No, don't be a sourpuss Karis, everyone is going to be there. What is there to lose?"
"Nothing, I just don't feel like spending the evening with them and how have we gone from just the boys to everyone?"
"Karis I will meet you at Fyn's Habour at seven." Karis pushed her bottom lip out tilting her head to the side. "What do you not understand about no?" she moaned, "I'm not coming, Armani. You can look at me like that all you want."
"You better be there," Armani poked her chest with every word. "You've become distant and we're worried about you,"
"I'll think about it,"
"No, K. You've rescheduled on me too many times."
"Armani, did we come here to run or to gossip."
"Both," she shrugged.
Karis walked out of her elevator with a white towel thrown over her shoulder and frowned, she could hear someone humming in her kitchen,
"Hello" she called out, "Hellooo"
She was at the most vulnerable point she had been in since before she had been trained. Teddy was becoming more dangerous the more she didn't know about him, the more he became a problem.
On her way into her kitchen, she threw off her running shirt leaving her in a sports bra and pressed her back against a pillar. She could see clearly into the kitchen without the intruder seeing her.
The figure of a burly man facing an open laptop on her island.
The figure looked familiar but she couldn't be too sure.
She was about to dash for her blade underneath her sofa but as she moved she could see the intruder's face more clearly.
"N'Ryan why are you in my suite?" Karis asked her brother.
"Why are you in my parent's hotel?" The 30-year-old smirked.
"Hardy har har, " she mused. "You're a dad stop being so childish," he stared at her blankly rolling his eyes.
