Karis tried as much as she possibly could to get tonights events out of her head, she drove towards Ashton trying to salvage what little of the night remained.

Yet all she thought of was the lies and the deceit she had wedged between them, but it was for his own good, she had to do this to protect him at all costs It was her duty.

How far would the voice go against reason, how many lies built up until it passed the point of her doing well for him. How many things will it cost to keep the secrecy and to keep him safe?

She had enough time to make it up to him before the club closed to clean up and party again, only four hours before closing time, an hour earlier than she had expected. Her red Porsche weaved through the city roads rushing back to him, to make him happy because he made her happy.

She passed her keys to the valet and strolled passed the growing line of partygoers and small cliques of paparazzi, ignoring the flashing lights.

Dazed in a corner, dark strands styled to perfection, grey cloth wrapped around his skin: a grey blazer with matching trousers and a much lighter grey shirt. With those boat shoes, she knew they would fit him. A glass of bourbon in his hands and a smirk playing across his lips. As condescending as ever.

If she didn't know him as well as she did, she would say he fit in but he didn't, the night club scene wasn't for him it was sandy beaches, Taj Mahal photoshoots, Parisian summer, 28-degree yacht rides, autumn walks in the park and GQ magazines.

She glided towards him as if they were magnets, once they connected she clung to his arm, and smiled softly. "Having fun without me," she whispered.

Her eyes widened when she noticed her father and her uncle Ryan sitting at the table, she smiled at them and they grinned proudly back.

Ashton pouted, "Nice of you to join us."

"You were out with your father," he whispered harshly into her ear."

He pressed his hand softly into her back, encouraging her to turn around, "Gentlemen please meet my life partner, Karis Grey-Lowe"

She nodded, hiding the frown pulling at her lips, "It's lovely to meet you all, sorry for my tardiness-

"Not to worry" the eldest out of the men interrupted her, "Alejandro told us about your busy schedule."

"My daughter is always busy, never has time for her old man."

"That's because I'm running your company," she jocked partly serious. Ashton tapped her arm, impatiently glaring at the side of her head. Her frown deepened, "if you don't mind us, gentlemen, I need to talk to Ashton."

The men carried on with their chatter.

Ashton pulled her out of earshot from the table, "Where have you been?" he whispered shouted, Karis, looked towards his feet.
