Hostage (22) Epilogue

ahhhh the epilogue is here. i wont make u wait with this one =)

Alex squeezed my hand again for about the millionth time as we walked together. I wish he would realize that it really was not helping me feel any better. I was nervous as hell. We were finally going to get to see him, after all this time. I have been waiting for this day that felt like it would never come. But now it was finally time.

We were going to see Ricky. The last time I had seen him, he was sitting in the other police car that drove us to the station. The last look he gave me, as they took him in wasn't one of betrayal like I thought it would have been. It was an apologizing one. With that last look, it felt like my heart had been ripped out of my chest, torn into a million tiny unfixable pieces and burned to ashes in front of me. Like it could never be repaired.

Kenzie was already at the station. I don't even want to think about that night. I had never been in so much trouble in my entire life before, and I still was as I speak. I hate even bringing it up all that happened; it was in the past now and that was it.

I never thought I was ever going to see Ricky again, just like I had feared. In seconds though, his face would appear right in front of me and then everything would be okay. I snuck glances at Alex to my left, and Tyler on my right. Their faces mirrored one another's. They both seemed anxious/excited and yet still nervous like me. "Almost there." Alex said softly, catching my gaze. I nodded my head and we kept going.

I bit my lip, trying to ignore the queasiness in my stomach that just would not go away. Finally, I saw him, he was there. My fell open for a second, then I let go of Alex's hand and took of sprinting across the ground. A huge smile spread across my face and I watched his arms spread wide to pick me up in a huge hug. We held on to each other tightly, not daring to let go, fearing if we did we would wake up from a dream. I took in his scent, the sweet scent I missed for such a long time. He gave me a kiss on my cheek, my forehead, then my other cheek before hugging me tightly again. I wondered who would be first to speak. It was me. "I thought I would never see you again." I whispered from the tears that were now pouring from my face.

"I know. I missed you so much." He pulled away a bit to be able to look my in the face. I had only seen him cry once in my life, in middle school when a friend had died in a car accident. But now he was, but he was also smiling as well. "I'm so sorry I did this to you. I never should have dragged you into this. No, scratch that. I never should have even doing such stupid things."

I nodded my head. "I know I know. I know you had problems at home and in school. You're going to be 18 later this year; you can get away from home." He nodded his head.

"Even with all the things going on, getting into this crap certainly didn't solve anything and I was wrong to do that. I lied to you Lexi." He lifted his hands to either side of my face. "This time I am going to keep my promise though. I'm never going to do something like that again, and I'm never going to hurt you again." We hugged again and I can't even describe how I felt. "Soon I will be out of here for good and you won't have to worry anymore." I nodded my head and pulled myself away from him, wiping my eyes and turning back around. Alex and Tyler were standing a bit away giving us some room. I beckoned them over and they came, reuniting with their friend.

It felt so good right now, to have us all together. I took Alex's hand in one, and Ricky's in the other. I was super happy right now. Ricky was safe and getting back to a normal life again with the help of rehab. The best part of it all...I had my friend back.
