The Fighter (Book 1)

Chapter 8

After Felicity stormed out of the house I had asked Selestia what had happened.

"Well," she started, "Fabian brought up a tough topic for Felicity, and she didn't want to talk about it."

I nodded and looked towards the open door. It was blowing in a cool breeze not freezing, but cool and pleasant.

"She shouldn't be out there." Said Garry, "these woods are dangerous during the night." He had a serious expression on his face. His eye brows bent with concern.

"I go get her." Stated Emmaline. "By myself this is partly my fault."

I didn't know what was going on between the two of them, but i was kind of scared to ask.

"Emmaline we aren't having two people go out in the woods alone." Said Selestia.

"I'll go with Emmaline." I stated, "Selestia you stay here."

"What?! No!" She argued.

I glared at her I was not in the mood to have a argument all that matter right now was finding Felicity.

"Fine." She sat down in a chair pouting.

"Fine then Octavia let's go." Emmaline pulled out her sword and walked out the door.

Well that cool breeze turned into a chilling wind that froze your bones. My light tunic (since I refused to wear a dress) and leggings was not enough to keep out the cold wind. My blonde hair kept blowing in my face and Emmaline laughed.

"You should put it up the-" She was cut off by a scream coming from the right. It was obvious who it was.

"FELICITY!" Emmaline ran faster then I've ever seen her run. I followed behind struggling to keep up with her.

Felicity was on the ground there was a long bloody gash around her right thigh. In front of her stood a man with wings the molded to hands and a head of a strange bird. His feathers were quite beautiful, black with sliver tips. The most disturbing thing about him was his huge eyes that were at either side of is bird head that stared right at Emmaline and I.

Emmaline charged the bird man with her sword that would have stabbed him clean through the stomach if he didn't block the blow with his own sword.

While the thing was distracted I ran over to Felicity who was passed out. Most likely from blood loss.

"Emmaline!" I called.

I ran over to help her fight the monster.

"Felicity is out we have to get her back."

Right after I said that the monster let out the most horrible cry I've heard. Emmaline ran over to Felicity and swung her over her shoulder.

By the time she stood up the monster's reinforcements had arrived.

We were completely surround by the creatures.

"Emmaline I'll hold them off you take Felicity back."

"What? No? You can't-" she said.

"I'll be fine go!" I yelled stabbing a monster in the stomach Making a area for Emmaline to run through.

She took off running and I started hacking my sword through every monster that came at me.
