🎒Sleepover At Asuma's🎒

When we arrive home papa gives me a solemn expression and motions me to sit down, I sit down next to him and he puts a hand on my shoulder.

"Haruko, I understand this mission was hard for you do...do you want to talk about it?" I engulf him in a hug and silently cry thinking of Haku's death 'he loved me...and I couldn't love him back, I really am a monster' once I'm done I pull away from papa giving a reassuring smile.

"That is the life of a shinobi, we lose people we love, but from that comes peace, and if we must lose people to gain that I'll be ok." I said wisely, this is why I can't love someone like that I'm afraid I'll lose them I loved Haku as a brother, never more never less. He looks at me unsure, but let's it go when I remember I'm staying at Asuma-oji's.

"Papa, sorry I didn't tell you before, but I said I was going to have a sleepover with Asuma-oji is that ok?" I asked worried he'd say no, but he nods his head ok and I rush upstairs to pack. Once I was done I rushed out the door, saying goodbye to papa and I was on my way to Asuma-oji's, when I get there no one was home so I set down my stuff and look for him. My search ends at the training grounds where he was training Shika, Choji, and Ino.

"ASUMA-OJI" I yelled running up to him with a broad smile, I had changed out of my ninja clothes so you could see my face now. I approach them and Choji and Ino look awestruck 'what's wrong with them' I just shrug it off and smile at Asuma-oji.

"I'm back from my mission..." I said trailing off, hoping he would remember.

"Right, we're done for the day" he said remembering Ino looks at me with a loss for words.

"H-Haruko you're gorgeous, why would you hide your face?"

"Hmm. Oh I wear my mask for missions only, " I responded quickly she was satisfied with my answer and I looked at Auma-oji "Let's get something to eat, I'm starving" he nods and we all ended up going. We, and by we I mean Choji, chose to go to a BBQ restaurant we were having a good time, laughing and I told them about our mission minus the Haku part.

"What a drag, mom will be mad I was out this late" Shikamaru said looking at the time it was just me, Asuma, and Shikamaru. By this time Ino had to go home and Choji ironically got food poisoning.

"You can just sleep over my house, and I'll explain to your mom in the morning" Asuma-Oji said lighting his cigarette. 'Shika staying over with us' I blushed at the thought which didn't go unnoticed by the lazy genius. "Do you have a fever Haruko, your face is red." He asked boredly I shook my head no vigorously, we payed for the food and left the restaurant when we got there Asuma-oji nervously rubbed the back of his neck.

"I only have one spare bed so...you'll guys will have to sleep in the same one" Shikamaru and I blushed furiously and headed to the room.

"It'll be a drag but if you want me to sleep on the flo-" he started before I cut him off.

"NO! Shika-kun I don't mind at all" I said softly looking at the floor 'why do I always seem to be nervous around him?' He gave me a small smile which I returned and after we changed into our pajamas we went downstairs. We saw Asuma-oji setting up a game to which I was unfamiliar, he motioned for us to sit down and I saw Shikamaru sigh.

"What is this game?" I asked showing my confusion.

"It's called shogi, a strategy game."Shikamaru answered yawning, then he taught me the rules and we started playing he was really good, but I knew my way around strategy so I wasn't losing. It was no one's game for hours, three to be exact, when Shikamaru slipped through my defenses and won.

"That was a good game, Shika-kun" I smiled at him shaking his hand he gave me a small smirk and nodded his head.

"For someone who's never heard of the game, you weren't terrible" he said cockily you gave him a playful eye roll and walked over to him.

"Well...winner should give loser a piggyback ride to the room" I said too lazy to walk he looked amused and bent down. I hopped on and he made his way upstairs and we plopped down on the bed.

"Goodnight Shika-kun"

"Goodnight Haruko" he whispered back at me and I felt his breath on my face,which was surely red 'no one else makes me feel like this, it's like a constant pounding on my heart'

The next morning when we woke up it was to Kurenai-oba's squeals 'it's too early for this' when I notice what she's squealing at. Me and Shikamaru's legs are entangled and our faces were almost touching 'too close' I thought blushing, but in the back of my mind I whispered 'not close enough.' We both got up and looked at Kurenai-oba and said the same thing

"What a drag" we said in unison I started laughing at his shocked face while he was mumbling about me being troublesome and something else I didn't really hear.

"Sorry Shika-kun, I just think it's so cute when you say that" I said smiling at him he blushed and looked the other way while Kurenai-oba obsessed about how we'll be a good couple all morning. After that day whenever we weren't on missions we'd hang out and I even became good friends with Ino and Choji who would tease us too.
