The Goodbye Scene (Criminal Minds Fan Fic)

Chapter One

I do not own any of the characters in this story. Some of the events were inspired by episodes, but I do NOT take credit for them. Everything belongs to the creators and writers of Criminal Minds. One last thing, this chapter was rushed and not my best, I wanted to get it out of the way so I could start the actual story. Thank you.

Reid grabbed his coffee, placing it on the table as the rest of the team wondered into the room. Garcia stood at the front, gripping the tricky remote as the presentation was set up. Hotch handed out case files and eventually took his seat.

''This is Jessica Valo, last seen two days ago'' Garcia began

Derek flipped through the limited pages, glancing up.

''Why's this a BAU case?'' He asked

''I was getting to that...Four other girls have gone missing over the past two months, all found dead a week after their abduction'' Garcia continued

''Same M.O?'' Prentiss asked

Garcia flipped the pages to reveal the other four victims.

''Yeah, erm they were all stabbed at least twenty times'' Garcia said, her voice going quiet.

''Twenty times, that's personal'' Morgan said

''Was there any sexual-'' Prentiss began

''Each victim wasn't sexually assaulted...but tortured'' Garcia said

''So we're dealing with a sadist?'' Morgan asked

''We're about to find out'' Rossi said

Morgan nodded and Hotch stood up to split the team.

''Reid, Morgan, I want you to get down to the victim's apartment. JJ and Prentiss to the crime scene and me and Rossi will go and talk to the parents'' Hotch announced

As the orders were given, the team dispersed with Hotch and Rossi leaning against the wall. Rossi leaned over, whispering something into his ear. Reid glanced back, wondering why they hadn't left yet.

Morgan grabbed the keys, driving them towards the down town apartment. Reid climbed out, approaching the building. He glanced around before stepping inside. The Landlord was already there, awaiting their arrival.

The Landlord led them up to the apartment, Reid noted the dirty hallways and the shady characters hanging about, soon disappearing after noticing Derek's badge poking out. Reid stepped inside the apartment first, his eyes darting about at the tidy place.

Morgan walked into the bedroom, the sheets were in a bundle on the floor. He checked through the chest of drawers to his right, picking out a diary. He held it up so Reid could catch a glimpse.

''We'll take it back with us'' Morgan said

Reid nodded and carried on looking around, he made his way to the bathroom. He opened up the cupboard to reveal numerous medication. He called Morgan over, handing him three bottles of painkillers and one bottle of antidepressants.

''Depressed'' Reid whispered

Morgan had picked up on what Reid had said, bagging the pills in an evidence bag, along with the diary he had found previously. Reid shut the cupboard and tried to find more evidence. There was nothing, the place was clean.

JJ and Prentiss arrived at the crime scene, a local park not far from the victim's apartment. They climbed out of the car, walking up to the squared police tape. Prentiss bent down, noticing a little blood splatter up a tree.

''JJ'' Prentiss called

JJ took a swap to run through the lab against DNA of the victims. Prentiss moved away from the splatter, expanding her search away from the tape. She noticed a piece of red cloth dangling, ripped from a tree branch.
