The Goodbye Scene (Criminal Minds Fan Fic)

Chapter Seventeen

I ran out of the conference room, running to collect my bulletproof vest. Hotch followed me out, along with Jordan and Morgan.

''Reid, what are you doing?'' Morgan shouted

''I'm going in there'' I replied

''Reid, no'' Morgan added

I carried on walking off and Morgan caught up with me; forcing me to turn and face them.

''It could be a trap'' Hotch stated

''It's the only chance I have to save her, you guys will be there too'' 

''We can't just storm in, he'll kill her'' I added

''Reid, think about this'' Hotch replied

''There's nothing to think about, I'm doing it''

Jordan agreed with me, and eventually Hotch and Morgan did too. We suited up and Garcia began panicking. Jordan did too, opting to come with us. Prentiss grabbed her gun and holstered it. JJ was still glancing over at me, hoping I'd forgive her.

Hotch made us form a circle around the conference table, pulling out a blueprint of the building that Garcia had found for us.

''Reid will go in first. We still have the feed and Garcia will be in constant contact with Morgan so we have a visual. Reid will be wearing a wire, once Eve is no longer in danger, Reid will give us the go ahead and we'll go in'' Hotch explained

We all nodded and Anderson fit me the wire.

''Garcia, keep us informed'' Hotch shouted over

Garcia nodded and Anderson stayed with her in the conference room. Rossi patted me on the back, reassuring me that everything was going be okay. I faintly smiled at him and climbed in the back of the SUV that Morgan was driving.

Prentiss was beside him, not seeming confident.

We arrived at the building, I was shaking. I was finally going to be able to save her. I took off the vest and gave my gun to Hotch, who was calling my name as I walked inside the building. I called out for Eve, but she didn't reply.

''Doctor Reid'' The unsub seethed

''Does this feel familiar, Dr Reid?'' He asked

He checked I didn't have a gun, throwing me down on the chair and tying me up. I was facing Eve, who glanced up at me. She thought she had been hallucinating. I urged her to speak to me, to let me know she was alright.

''Reid?'' She asked

''It's me, Eve...I'm here'' I replied, softly

She tried to smile, her eyes fighting to stay open.

''Stay with me'' I whispered

The unsub stood in front of me, blocking my view of her; I tried to look around him but he grabbed my face and forced me to look at him. He took off the mask with his spare hand, revealing it was Ashton.

''Ashton?'' Eve croaked

He ignored her and threw the mask to the ground. Ashton started laughing, but I was yet to see what he found so funny. He walked over to Eve, and I was begging he didn't hurt her again; she wouldn't be able to take it.

Ashton bent down and kissed her on the cheek.

''Don't touch her'' I spat

''She's mine Doctor'' He replied

''She's no one's'' I said

He looked mad, moving away from Eve and walking back over to me. I glanced over at Eve, she was struggling to stay awake. She kept eye contact with me for as long as she could. He lifted the gun and hit me across the face with it.
