The Goodbye Scene (Criminal Minds Fan Fic)

Chapter Two

Chapter Two:

Once everyone had settled down, members of the team started to notice Eve's presence. Hotch stood up to announce the news.

''Eve will be joining our team'' He spoke

There was muffled chatter among them as Hotch tried to hush them and took his seat so Garcia could begin. Reid glanced over at Eve every few seconds, trying not to be obvious as Garcia started presenting the latest case.

 ''The latest victim'' Garcia spoke

Reid hadn't been listening to everything for once, he was more focused on Eve.

Reid's POV:

I sat back in my chair, containing the urge to look over at Eve again. Working with a team of profilers was hard, especially when keeping secrets. Prentiss could probably tell me how many times I had glanced over at Eve, which was four times.

Not wanting to make it a fifth time, I picked up the case file laid out in front of me and began to flip through the few pages that contained very little information. There wasn't much known about the case as there had only been two murders, both homeless men.

Garcia finished the presentation, prompting the others to leave as Hotch said the famous line.

''Wheels up in 30'' He said

JJ walked out with Garcia, holding her case file and talking to her about something. Emily and Morgan were heading towards the door too, probably going to fetch their go bags as we called them. 

Eve looked lost, standing around and waiting for her next order. I figured it wouldn't hurt to walk over there.

''Dr. Reid'' She said upon noticing me

''Eve'' I replied

She smiled and extended her hand out for me to shake. I smiled too. Hotch called me away before I could initiate any further conversation. Rossi was nowhere to be seen, I guess he went to get his stuff too.

''Reid, I need you to make sure Eve has everything for the trip'' 

I nodded, walking back over to her as she waited.

''Hotch just wanted to make sure your go bag was all done'' 

She looked as if she was thinking for a few seconds before finally nodding in agreement.

''You look a little young to be doing this job'' She responded

''So do you''

''Family in high places'' She replied before leaving

I smiled and walked out into the hallway, looking as I spotted Emily at her desk. Next to her, Derek was sitting on her desk, both laughing at something he had said. JJ returned following her talk with Garcia.

 Eve's POV:

I walked out into the hallway, following the others. I walked over to my desk and sat on the chair and looked through a few files while we wasted 28 minutes. Reid was talking to Derek and Emily, I didn't really feel like part of the team.

Being out of place was something I was used to, but I was determined to make it work this time.

''I'm looking for Agent Hotchner!'' A man shouted

Everyone turned around simultaneously and noticed a man covered in blood, with what looked like a gun shot wound to the arm. His hand was pressed firmly against it as he staggered forward. I tried to get a better look at him.
