Chapter Eighteen

''Wait!'' I screamed at Eve

She lifted herself from the chair and tackled Ashton to the ground, I looked away after hearing several gunshots. The team stormed in and pointed their guns down at Ashton, who was lying with his face pressed hard against the ground

JJ ran over to Eve and helped her get up. Hotch untied me and I was free; running over to Eve and hugging her tightly. She winced at the pain and once realising, I let go. Eve grabbed my face and pulled me forward, kissing me several times.

I placed my hand on her stomach, and looked up at her as she smiled.

''I love you'' She croaked, tearfully

I kissed her forehead and Morgan called me over.

''Can we get a medic in here'' Rossi said

The bullets from the gunshots I had heard hit the wall where all the boxes had been stacked up. Everyone was focused on us both. 

Eve's POV:

I noticed the team paying attention to Reid. I brushed JJ off after she helped me up, only wanting to be near Reid at the moment. I staggered away and noticed they had been distracted. I glanced down at the ground, seeing Ashton had disappeared.

I grabbed JJ's gun from her holster, hoping she wouldn't realise. I ran around the corner of the building, following Ashton as he ran not far in front of me. I heard the screams from the team once they realised I had gone.

Ashton began to open the door which lead him to the roof. I shouted for him to stop and started shooting a few rounds. He turned, stopping and fired three at me. I dodged them, and carried on running.

I caught up with him, engaging in a physical fight. I could hear the team coming, running towards me. Ashton grabbed his gun, shooting me twice before escaping. The bullets ripped through my skin, I tried to scream at first, the pain overwhelmed me.

I fell to the floor, clutching my stomach and dropping.

''Eve!'' I heard Reid screamed

I screamed at the sight of the blood gushing from my stomach, all I could think of was my baby. I pressed hard, trying to stop the blood flow.

''Oh God, no please'' I begged

Reid fell to my side, grabbing my hand as I tried to speak. Hotch and Morgan ran past me, chasing after Ashton. I saw JJ, she was crying. JJ took a step back, covering her mouth with her hand and watching me as Reid shouted for a medic.

''We need a medic!'' Reid shouted

Reid's POV:

I looked around for Eve, she was gone. JJ was confused about something, glancing around with one of her hands pressed against her empty holster. I started panicking, seeing if someone had handcuffed Ashton.

''Where is he?'' I shouted

Everyone looked around, with Hotch and Morgan running in the same direction they had presumably gone. I shouted Eve's name, following closely behind with JJ and Rossi. I stopped running once I heard two gunshots.

''Eve!'' I screamed

I dropped to my knees, with JJ pulling me up.

''Reid''

I pushed her arms away from me and started running again, I followed the footsteps of Morgan and Hotch. I turned the corner to see Eve on the floor, a circle of blood surrounding her as she placed her hands against her stomach.
