It had been two days since I had spoken to Reid. I grabbed my things and decided on where to go after the team was given a short vacation. Garcia told me she was planning to go somewhere with Morgan as they didn't get much vacation time.

I hadn’t heard from Prentiss either, but I guess she was making the most of the time off. I finally decided on staying at home with a bowl full of popcorn and several chick flicks I had never gotten round to watching.

Checking my phone, I scrolled through my recent texts with Reid; wondering why he ran off after kissing me. I sighed, tapping in a quick text to him, hoping he’d reply. I was sure he wasn’t using his vacation time to go anywhere.

A few minutes later, I got a reply reading:

Sorry, it’s not a good time.

I throw my phone on the couch, letting out a deep sigh of frustration as I tried to work out how Reid worked. I was bored out of my mind and ended up fast forwarding through most of the cliché scenes that came with watching a chick flick.

I jumped towards my phone as I heard it go off, smiling uncontrollably as I hurried over to check the name flashing up on the screen. I sighed as I noticed it was my mother calling. I accepted the call, pressing my phone to my ear; preparing for another lecture.

‘’I heard about what you did, Eve, going off on your own. How stupid!’’ She moaned

‘’I’ve already been berated, can we drop it?’’ I begged

‘’Fine, what are you doing?’’ She asked

I looked around my apartment and then at the paused television.

‘’You know, just grabbing coffee with a few friends’’ I lied

‘’I need to go, your brother is here, but be careful’’ She replied, hanging up

‘’Love you too’’ I said to myself

I placed my phone on the coffee table, wondering why my brother hadn’t come to see me if he was in town. We had a close relationship that was strained after I joined the BAU. He wasn’t so fond of me ‘’putting myself in danger when I could be behind a desk’’.

A few years older than me, he thought he could control every aspect of my life. His controlling nature was partly the reason I married Ashton so young and so drunk.  Jordan’s reaction to the whole thing was so worth the endless lectures from my mother, which still happen.

I decided to text Reid back, hoping he’d want to talk or something. It was just a kiss and I knew he was worried about Hotch’s opinion and the future of his job.

I just want to talk I typed back

I waited a further few minutes before he finally replied:

I’ll be over soon

I smiled, jumping up and sorting out my apartment so I didn’t look so lonely on a Friday night. I grabbed the remote and switched the television off, also running into the kitchen to clear the smell of popcorn.

I passed the mirror, noticing I was wearing grey sweats and a baggy blue shirt. I walked into my room and went through my wardrobe, trying to find a jumper and black jeans. I grabbed my socks and shoved them on as I heard him knock the door three times.

Pulling my hair out of the scrunchie, I opened the door and greeted him with a hug. He held on tight, his hands gently rubbing my back as we finally let go. I offered him in, grabbing him a drink from the kitchen as he sat on the couch.

I handed him the drink and sat beside him as he played with his fingers as a distraction.

‘’It was a mistake, I think we should forget about the kiss’’ Reid finally said
