The Goodbye Scene (Criminal Minds Fan Fic)

Chapter Twenty Three

''Eve?'' Garcia croaked

I was shaking as I managed to stand up from my seat, staring at an alive Eve. I shook my head and watched as her focus turned to me; she had been crying. Eve extended her hand out to me, hoping I'd take it.

''No, get away from me'' I snapped

I pushed passed everyone and left Eve standing there. She called my name multiple times, but I just kept walking until I could no longer hear her voice ringing in my ears. I ran outside, breathing heavily and picturing her face.

Garcia's POV:

''Reid, please'' Eve called

He disappeared around the corner and Eve tried not to cry. She walked in and Morgan was shaking his head, angry. He folded his arms and Eve approached him, apologizing for what had happened.

''No, you don't get to come back here and ruin his life, do you know what he has been through these past two months? Do you?!'' Morgan shouted

''Morgan'' Hotch interrupted

''And what about you? Making us all think she was dead'' Morgan snapped

Morgan left the room, probably in search of Reid. I wiped my eyes and walked over to her, hugging her tightly. She looked so well, no bruises, nothing. I broke the hug and guided her to a seat. Prentiss had mixed emotions.

JJ already knew, from what I gathered she had been involved the whole time. Rossi was fiddling with his bracelet in his hand, eventually getting up and tapping Eve on the shoulder as a sign of comfort.

He then left, retiring to his office.

Me and Prentiss had stayed, we wanted to hear what they had to say.  Eve had her hands placed on her stomach, looking down every so often and sighing. Morgan and Rossi soon returned, without Reid.

''I did what I thought was best'' Hotch began

''Ashton wouldn't have given up like that'' He added

''What about witness protection?'' Prentiss asked

''Reid wouldn't have been able to stay away if he knew she was only a state away'' Hotch replied

 ''There was a better way to handle this'' Morgan snapped

''This is the way it happened, I will deal with the consequences'' Hotch responded

Morgan scoffed, rolling his eyes. He stared at Hotch in disbelief, wondering how he could manage to put Reid through it again. He stormed out, I called after him; but he ignored me. I decided to give him some time to cool off.

Hotch stood there, feeling guilty. JJ was anxious at Reid's reaction. I rubbed Eve's arm, trying to reassure her that it was going to be okay. She seemed so unsure, I decided to drive her back to her apartment.

She walked in, staring at the place. I took down the police tape, throwing it away. Eve looked down, seeing a bucket.

''What's that?'' She asked

''JJ told me Reid came here, he cleaned the blood off the walls'' I replied

She turned, looking upset. She smiled faintly and bent down to inspect what he had done. Eve took off her coat, throwing it on her couch.

''Was it bad?'' Eve asked

I nodded, remembering how Reid had been.

''Oh God'' She whispered

I walked over to her, trying to comfort her.

''I don't know what to say because I'm not sure how he's going to react to this, you'll just have to talk to him, maybe not now. Tomorrow'' I replied
