Chapter Twenty Five

Final Chapter:

Eve's POV:

I walked into the office, seeing most of the team were already here. Hotch saw me and walked over.

''Eve, a word'' He said

Reid looked up, watching the exchange between me and Hotch, Morgan then occupied him with a conversation. Garcia came over, sighing as she saw me walking into Hotch's office.

''This will be your last case, I've made all the arrangements regarding your resignation'' He stated

I nodded, swallowing hard. I turned to see the team through the window. They were all laughing, I noticed Reid barely joining in with them. Hotch coughed and I turned my attention back to him, forcing a smile and excusing myself.

''What was that about?'' Rossi asked

''Nothing important'' I replied, looking at Garcia

She lowered her head and didn't say anything. Rossi let it go and I sat at my desk. Reid would occasionally look over at me, prompting my heart to race. Every single time, I'd glance up quickly too; hoping our eyes would meet.

''Agent Hotchner, we've got a situation'' An agent called

Hotch walked over to him, taking the call to the person that was on hold. He lifted his head up, giving the heads up to Rossi. 

 ''There's a hostage situation at the bank'' Hotch said, hanging up the phone

I got up, walking towards Hotch, who informed me this was still my last case. I nodded and followed Prentiss and JJ as we suited up. I saw Reid whisper something to Hotch, becoming annoyed when Hotch dismissed whatever he had said.

Reid's POV:

''Hotch, I don't think Eve's ready for this kind of thing'' I argued

Hotch dismissed me, telling me to suit up. I eventually agreed and backed away when prompted by Morgan. Rossi walked in front of us, I noticed Garcia putting her vest on too.

''Garcia's going into the field?'' I asked Morgan

''We need her to hack into the security cameras'' Morgan replied

I grabbed my vest and Garcia called me over, once I was close enough, she pulled me into her office and shut the door.

''Garcia, wha-'' I began

''I know something'' She began

''Well, what is it?'' I asked

''It's Eve...she handed in her resignation'' Garcia replied

I stopped smiling at Garcia, shuffling my feet. I didn't know how to reply, stuttering a reply. I shoved my hands in my pockets and felt the edge of the ring box. I swallowed hard and nodded until I finally pushed myself to leave the room.

Garcia followed me out, swearing me to secrecy. I nodded and joined the team as we started to leave. Morgan was driving the car I was in, noting how quiet I was being; he didn't address it at first.

''You alright, Kid?'' 

''Yeah'' I replied

Morgan pulled up and we ran out of the car, over to the small unit that had been set up by the officials that had already arrived.

''How many hostages?'' Hotch asked

''We counted five from the CCTV footage'' An officer replied

Hotch sighed, nodding to the officer.

''We're trying to see if we gain access through the back exit'' He added
