Assalamualaikum guys! So this time it's gonna be ItsMaania ,Its been waiting for months now and I'm really guilty for it because this interview is sooo good and amazingly done, thanks to her unique answers to each of my question. Her books are worth checking out.
So here we go!
■|■
#1|How did you discover Wattpad?
ItsMaania | One of my friends in college was a writer, she told me she was writing a book there, I made my account to read her book.
#2|What inspired you to write?
ItsMaania | have been writing since I was 11 or twelve years old which is a very long time so I don't remember what exactly inspired me. But I grew up reading stories so maybe it came naturally. :)
#3|Tell me about your books!
ItsMaania | I love all of my book, because I have put my heart in each on of them and they're my treasures. My three completed short stories are: Locomotive Library, The Fixer and To Be Happy.
Locomotive Library was my first short story on Wattpad and also my first story that I ever completed. It's about a girl who loses everything but has a very strong character, she lives in a van of books that she drives to different corners of the city to sell books. It's funny, sweet and motivating. Nothing romantic.
The Fixer is my second book and it's about two friends who reunite after years of being away from eachother. The book shows glimpses from their childhood and adulthood. In short, it's about friendship and a little bit of romance. In all of my books I focus on a topic. In The Fixer I highlighted the issue of miscommunication in relationships
To Be Happy is a very short book which mainly revolves around a differently-abled boy, hearing impaired. It highlights the difference between the life of normal people and differently abled people. It's a very light, sweet and funny story. Nothing too serious (non of my books are serious).
Lolll okay I'll stop there. The other books aren't important. Two of them a random and one is a collection. Period. 😂
#4|How do you deal with Writer's block?
ItsMaania | I don't deal with it, rather let it be. I engage myself in other activities, like drawing etc till it goes away on it's own. Honestly, sometimes we need a break from even things that we love a lot. I deal with my writer's block, by not blocking my pleasure because of it. :) I enjoy it.
#5|Is writing you dream career or just a hobby?
ItsMaania | Writing is neither a hobby,nor a dream career. It's more like a part of my system,like I can't not write. I grew up writing.I don't wish it to be a career. :)
#6|Your favourite books and authors?
ItsMaania | A tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens is my favourite book.Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare is my favourite trilogy. On Wattpad.... It's kinds a difficult. I love 'Not That Interested' by ShutUpAndCoffee and 'As Told by Nerdy' (and it's sequel) by Tsubame . Cassandra Clare,Charles Dickens,Umera Ahmed. And the ones I mentioned above on Wattpad.
#7|How do you respond to hate comments?
ItsMaania | Alhamdulillah I have never gotten hate comments.(but if I do) I would get depressed, talk to my friend about it,she'll make me feel better, then I'll assess things, try to learn from it and then thank that person and maybe block them.
#8|One word that defines you?
ItsMaania | Confused.
#9|What is your quote on sprituality?
ItsMaania | Walking on a bridge blindfolded, hands tied and believing that Allah is there to help us crossing without falling off.
#10|This could be kinda personal, but what forced you to stop writing few months back?
ItsMaania | I ended up believing that I can't write stories anymore, it made me a bit depressed. Then university started and I decided to take a break. I write poetry and stuff but from writing stories, yes I'm still on a break.
#11|What is your advice to the writers on Wattpad?
ItsMaania | All of you guys are very talented and creative but please stop writing the same clichés. AND I don't mean to be rude but there's a thing called 'filter' that needs to be there in every story whether it's eastern or western. Please don't write scenes that don't need to be there, ESPECIALLY in Muslim stories. Romance can be portrayed by so many other ways.
BUT don't EVER stop writing NO MATTER WHAT! 🙌
#12|How has Wattpad impacted your life?
ItsMaania | I came to know a lot about other cultures due to reading books from different writers of different countries and cultures. I believe it has helped me wider my vision and taught me to socialise with different people of different regions. :)
#13|Finally,what do you think I should do to improve my interviews?
ItsMaania | It's good and entertaining, gives the writers a chance to explore themselves. But I THINK you should set up a time and day before the interview and decide a proper time so the person will be mentally prepared AND will not have to delay other work OR the interview because of work and all. Just a suggestion. All in all, you're a very cute hooman and it was fun to be interviewed by you. You're doing a great job and you're very professional. B-)
