Fantasy?

83 19 6

Our heart always chooses fantasies
Instead of realities;
Apparently, realities hurt instantly
And fantasies don't.

What we fail to understand
Is that, fantasy is just an
Overrated version of reality,
That aims at destroying tranquility.

Fantasy gives you false hopes,
While reality teaches you to cope;
Eventually, the false hopes bursts like a bubble,
Leaving you with nothing but trouble.

Fantasies cheer us up to no end
And to its demands we bend;
Unable to bear reality's harsh drill,
We fall to fantasy with a cry so shrill.

As time passes by,
Our addiction to fantasy grows so high,
And one thing leads to another;
Isolating ourselves, without an anchor.

Isolation, often termed as loneliness,
Leaves us pining for a loving caress;
As fantasy consumes our imagination
We erroneously accept seclusion.

In order to elude
The pain, we retire to solitude;
Hoping to find solace,
Somewhere away from all this mess.

So yeah, fantasy is cheerful,
And Reality is painful;
Loneliness is devastating
And solitude is enchanting.

But what causes this hurt and ache?
Isn't it this fantasy so fake?
But, is fantasy to take all the blame?
Our heart's responsible, just the same.
