Thank You

In a dark room I lay,
Drowning and choking on my own tears,
Thinking of your face so clear;
The face that made me pay.

Thinking back to the past,
Is nothing but re-opening wounds
That would never heal soon.
But then, would it last?

It's as clear as still water,
Fresh in my mind;
The way you made me find
Myself hopelessly wander.

I still remember that day
With tears, etched there unwillingly;
The day I dreamt of you so fondly;
The day I learnt to stay away.

The smile on my face died,
My heart was ripped to shreds,
When – for someone – you fell hard,
Ignoring me as I cried.

I wanted to scream my heart out,
"I cared for you! I still do!
I'm the one who loved you!"
But by then, you were already lost.

It was too late,
And you were too engrossed
To notice the damage you've caused,
Cause, you chose the one that hates.

With the pain killing me,
I had just one thing to thank you for;
For teaching me to push away the pain,
Of letting someone occupy my heart again.
