Chapter 12

We decided to go to the mall and by that time I had cooled down a bit, you know with the whole Nash thing that Maxine was talking about.

We were actually having a pretty good time. We went all around the mall going into every store but not actually buying anything because we were broke. Some of the store clerks kicked us out because we (1) were not buying anything and (2) were causing commotion that some customers were complaining about. There was this one store we walked into and there was literally no one in there so we may or may not have taken a few things. I know right, we're so bad ass.

"Hey do you guys want to go get some food?" Kat asked "Because I'm starving here." I laughed at that part she added at the end. She was always saying she was starving yet she never finishes her food and ends up stealing mine.

"Oh Kat, you're always starving."

"I know but this time I will finish, I'm sure of it." She smiled and I laughed, I knew she was lying.

We made our way to the food court as we were carrying on our conversation about who knows what.

"No I'm serious, if you want to do that then-" Kat suddenly stopped talking and was staring straight out into the food court. I was curious to see what she was looking at so I slightly turned my head but Kat grabbed Maxine and my hands and started pulling us away.

"You know what guys I'm really not all that hungry anymore. Let's just go back to Lisa's place! Yea?" Kat said in an extremely noticeable fake voice. I saw Maxine turn her head to face the way that we were walking away from and her face lit up and her expression was unreadable.

"Yea. I'm not really hungry either and we don't want to eat here, it's all full of undesirables." Maxine said. Something about her choice of words made me want to know what was over there even more. I pulled my arm from Kat's grasp.

"Lisa no wait-"

I was standing not far away from where I saw my boyfriend...with another girl. I stood there for a while convincing myself that they are just friends or she is just a fan. Those thought quickly escaped my mind when he kissed her, not even a kiss, they were full on making out by this point. I don't know why I was still standing here but I couldn't move my legs. Tears started filling my eyes.

"Nash?" I said in a voice that you could barely hear. He quickly pulled away and looked straight at me. He had a surprised expression on his face and I could see the tears starting to form in his eyes but I didn't care. By this time my legs caught up with my brain and I started to run. I ran as fast as I could trying to get the images out of my head.

"Wait! Lisa! Stop!" I heard Nash scream after me but I just kept running. When I looked back I saw Nash back at the table talking with the girl.

"You're a pig!" Is all I managed to hear and then the girl slapped him and walked away.

This burned a hole through my heart. He cared more if his new girl was okay than he did me.

I managed to get back to my car that my mom had bought me as a congratulations gift. I got in closed the door, rolled up all the windows, and locked the doors. I sat there in the back crying my heart out. I thought he liked me. I thought he cared. My sadness was soon replaced by anger. I realized he didn't like me, he didn't care. He does this to everyone just like Maxine said. Now more than ever I wanted them to come comfort me. I wanted to tell Maxine I was sorry for doubting her and sorry for thinking I was different. And I wanted Kat to hold me in her arms and tell me it was okay.

After about ten minutes Kat and Maxine came to the car and knocked on the door. I had forgot I locked the doors so I unlocked them and wiped my eyes to make it not look I had been crying, not like it helped.

Kat's POV

I had opened the door to the back seat, where I had sat during the drive to the mall, and saw Lisa sitting there curled up in a ball. Her eyes were all red and puffy like she had been crying. I don't blame her, I would've done the same if I had experienced what she just did. I know Lisa and I know she wouldn't want to talk about it right away so I just grabbed the keys from the car floor and gestured for Maxine to get in the passengers seat. She gave me an understanding smile and hopped in the front next to me.
