Her grip on the journal is loosened. Something cracked right under her chest. Her throat did too. Tara remembers that night. She found a shaken and crying Ivy by the lake. She thought to herself, what the fuck happened?

The next door neighbours then blasted their stereo. To Make You Feel My Love is heard and the song pulls Tara to another past...

It was Drama class, one that Ivy always aced. Only in that class Tara didn't have the power over the teachers, Mrs. Bloom. But Ivy did Ivy was her favourite student. Mainly because Ivy is somehow outspoken and creative in her class. Tara didn't want to take the class, she resented it but everyone said the class was an easy A so she signed up without hesitation. Today was about Tell Your Story Day, again. Everyone had to perform in any way while telling their story.  Half of the class had already done it. Few didn't take it quite well, like Tara. Those who didn't want to let their guards down just shared something that wasn't personal. Mrs. Bloom told them to dig deep into our feelings. The more intense it is, the better the grades would be. Ivy tried to perform last week but she choked and Mrs. Bloom told her to redo it again. She was the last to perform. The guy before her did a poem about his mother leaving his family and it teared up everyone. Soon, the whole school was buzzing. And the auditorium started to have more audience.

Especially since they heard Ivy choked last time. Tara's minions were the first ones to arrive. Mrs. Bloom always opened her class to other students, so long as they got their teacher's permission.

"Ivy Morfoses," Mrs. Bloom announced.

And then came Ivy on the stage, eyes glued to the floor of the stage. Her hands were trembling. They were visible because she had a guitar in her hand. Tara was surprised because she never heard Ivy sang before. Sure, she told Tara she played a bit while they were spending time in the summer but Ivy never got the chance to sing to her. Tara's minions snickered as they saw Ivy trembling.

"It's okay Ivy. You may start whenever you're ready," she encouraged her.

A minute passed by and still Ivy didn't say a word. More people kept crowding in the auditorium. Her fear grew. She looked like she couldn't breathe. Her knees were failing her. Tara's eyes were cold on her. That certainly didn't help with Ivy's nerve.

"Everyone has their own story," Mrs. Bloom started.

"Yeah, the story of a loser!" one of the minions said.

"Now Ms Huddington, I would have you leave my auditorium if you even threaten the safety of my performer again," Mrs. Bloom warned.

They kept quiet. All the jocks took out their phones, ready to record Ivy chocking again.

"Now, as I was saying. Everyone has their story to tell. Emotions to share. This stage is yours and no one can take it away from you; none," Mrs. Bloom assured her.

Then Ivy felt safe again. Some people chuckled as she took a deep breath.

"I'm not good with words. So here's a song to portray my story," Ivy started with lack of confidence in her voice.

But she was determined to get it out of her system. She had had bad days with Tara the last couple of days. She sat herself on the small bench and tested the microphone. Looking up at the spotlight, she closed her eyes and found a bit of courage to started strumming the guitar.

        Absolute silence.

When the rain is blowing in your face

And the whole world is on your case

I could offer you a warm embrace

To make you feel my love

Ivy was singing the song more to herself rather than anyone else. Inside, she wished someone had said these words to her because she felt so lonely. Being in the school without any friends sucked especially being Tara's sex toy and nothing more. She felt so small, unimportant, insignificant. Her voice flew away from her, like it was taken away the day she stepped into the school. Her Dad was rarely home. She missed home. She missed her mom, Peyton, Jude and Daisy. She missed Violet too. She wanted some warmth. She needed comfort. But she knew she wouldn't find it here, not at this school and especially not from Tara, the love of her life.

When the evening shadows and the stars disappear

There's no one there to dry your tears

I could hold you for a million years

To make you feel my love

Only then, Ivy opened her eyes and stared intently at Tara. From this moment on, she's dedicating the song to Tara. She's been building up the courage to tell her how she felt. Ivy thought that might soften Tara a bit and reveal the real Tara she had seen over the summer. She thought maybe this song could be the start for her to admit her feelings to Tara.

I know you haven't made your mind up yet

I would never do you wrong

I know it from the moment that we met

No doubt in my mind where you belong

I'd go hungry I'd go black and blue

I'd go crawling down the avenue

Go to the end of the earth for you

To make you feel my love.

To make you feel my love.

Tara knew why she was singing this song. It was because of few days ago Tara was convinced no one loved her. Ivy was there when Tara cried her eyes out. A few seconds later, everyone in the class clapped. Mrs. Bloom stood to give Ivy a standing ovation. Ivy's eyes were teared up. Tara felt something warm in her heart and she accidentally smiled at Ivy, making Ivy smile even bigger. Even the minions clapped. Ivy was just so good.

It wasn't the voice. It wasn't the guitar. It wasn't the stage.

It was the raw emotions Ivy had within her. Everyone felt it. For a moment during that song, everyone forgot their hatred and pity towards Ivy.

"Absolutely outstanding!" Mrs. Bloom broke the trance Ivy and Tara had.

Tara shook her head and returned to her icy self. Ivy smiled in shy.

"I don't know where that emotions came from but that was beautiful!" Mrs. Bloom beamed.

Ivy looked at the floor, now embarrassed, realising she just confessed her love to Tara in front of the whole school. Everyone she knew and didn't know was here.

"What's your story?" someone asked.

Mrs. Bloom checked with Ivy whether she wanted to answer it herself or not. Ivy nodded.

"It's about my feelings for someone. I've never felt this fragile before. No feeling was ever this strong until now. Until today. I'm in love," Ivy confessed looking at Tara.

        But Tara remained indifferent.

Now, Tara regretted more than ever to not respond how she wanted to then. Truthfully, Tara wanted to cry, leap to the stage and kiss her. But she didn't. Because her pride was getting in the way. And now Ivy would never find out how Tara truly feels for her. Tara wishes she could somehow make Ivy feel her love.

"I'd give anything to make you feel my love," Tara whispered and cried into the journal.
