Butterflies... Butterflies everywhere... I think this is heaven for butterflies... I'm back in the meadow, with butterflies roaming in the sky and I find myself dancing in the midst of it. Then, a chuckle pulls my attention towards the sun.
My eyes are shot open.
"Sorry, did I wake you?" she asked.
There's a person. In front of me. My eyes blink rapidly, trying to process whether what I'm seeing is true. When her breath hits the tip of my nose, my spine shoots up straight and I crawl backwards until my butt hits the floor. Thud! Owowowowowow!!!
"Hey, you okay?" that person asked again.
I look at this room and I know this familiar lavendar scent. It's Violet. She's sleeping in the bunk above mine. I look to my right and find my backpack is hung by the chair. This is my room. So who is this person?? The ruckus stirs Violet up from her sleep. Still, no words come out of my mouth as my brain tries really hard to process and make a hypothesis of what just happened. If this is my room, what is this stranger doing here? Second of all, why did I find myself sleeping in her arms just now? As I get consumed with my thoughts, suddenly fingers are snapped in front of my face, bringing me back to reality. It's Violet. I just look between her and the stranger, whom by the way, still has her attention towards me.
"Vy, you didn't remember what happened yesterday?" Violet asked.
My face scrunches in confusion.
"Think hard," Violet said gently.
Yesterday? Hmm... Yesterday I had a great first day. Drama class rocked. And I think I found the club I want to join. And there was this beautiful sunset. And just like that, I can feel smiles slipping off my face. And the memory of yesterday comes back to me slowly.
"Did you...stay with me all night long?" I hesitantly asked the blonde.
Her face lights up a bit, probably due to the fact I remember her and not think of her as someone who's trying to take advantage on me. She nods.
"Well, she couldn't really leave. You were practically glued to her shirt, even when I came," Violet smirked.
"I know," I blushed.
"Vy, where's your manner? You should at least thank her," Violet reminded me.
"It's nothing, really. Anyways, it's still early. I think I'll go back to my room and get ready for class," the blonde excused herself.
Violet stands up and shakes her hand in gratitude. The blonde turns to look at me.
"I'll see you around," she smiled.
And here I am being rude and ungrateful towards her but still she keeps her cool. When she steps outside the room, only then my brain and limbs start to function and I run after her. Luckily my feet are quick enough to catch her in the hallways still.
"Wait!" I called her out.
She turns around with amusement, "Yes?"
I've had the words planned out in my head but they all come to a halt when I realised there's a tattoo on her right side of the neck. Now, normally, I wouldn't be checking up on a stranger's tattoo but this one is different.
"Orange...butterfly?" was all I could say and pointed out to the tattoo.
NO way.
"Oh, you mean this?" she pointed out to her neck.
"Why did you get it?" I asked straight to the point.
Everything seems too coincidental. Suddenly, she steps near me and pulls me into her embrace, one arm around my neck and the other around my waist. It's weird. I didn't flinch or try to run away. Physical contacts are a BIG NO NO for me especially around strangers. But I don't seem to mind her holding me like this. Maybe it's because my body automatically trusts her after what happened yesterday.
