~ summary: you and ethan watch a scary movie, which leads to you sleeping over ~

"Why do you have to have the air conditioning all the way up? It's like 20 degrees in here!" you said, snatching a blanket off the couch and wrapping it around your trembling body.

"What? It was hot in here earlier, so I figured I'd cool it down," Ethan stated, defending himself.

"You could've at least told me that it was going to be a frozen tundra in here. I would've put on a sweater instead of a t-shirt."

He rolled his eyes at your overreactive behavior and plopped down onto the couch. He picked up the remote and started surfing through the movies on Netflix to give you two something to do.

You sat down next to him and went totally overboard complaining about the temperature. You chattered your teeth loudly enough for it to be audible and shivered intensely so much so that the couch vibrated, causing Ethan to finally glance over and sigh.

"If you're so cold, you can turn the heat on," he groaned, clearly annoyed.

You sprung up from the couch in an instant and ran to the thermometer, cranking it up to 70°. You heard the heater burst to life and warm air began to circulate around the apartment.

"Much better," you sighed, returning to your seat on the couch.

While you were adjusting the thermostat, Ethan had selected a movie and was about to press play when you noticed the title and grabbed the remote from him.

"Nope, no way," you insisted, crossing your arms to conceal the remote from Ethan's sight line.

"What? You don't like this movie?"

"Ethan, you know I hate horror movies!"

"Don't be a baby, Y/N. It's all fake, remember?"

You tossed the remote back onto his lap and groaned.

As much as you loved Ethan, he could be very stubborn. That was one of the many things you had to get used to when you guys became friends.

"Hey, it's my night to pick the movie. I didn't complain when you made me watch Mean Girls last week," he reminded.

"Fine, but if I can't sleep for weeks, it's your fault."

Ethan started the movie and you took a deep breath. The beginning wasn't all that bad, so you figured you could handle it. But all it took was one jumpscare for the movie to escalate into pure horror.

You buried your face in Ethan's shoulder, not being able to bare the stabbing and the curdling screams.

The horrifying noises stopped and you peeked out from the blanket you had pulled over your head to see that Ethan paused the movie.

"You okay?" he whispered.

You lifted your head from his shoulder, a little embarrassed, and scooted back over to the opposite side of the couch.

"Yeah," you lied, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.

"You can stay if you want."

He held his arm open, inviting you back over to cuddle with him. You accepted and moved back over, nuzzling your head into his neck. His arm wrapped around your back and his hand rested on your thigh, drawing small circles with his thumb every so often to soothe you during the scary parts.
