~ summary: you and grayson go and look at christmas lights and end up getting distracted in the field ~

———————————————————————

It was the first day of winter vacation and with that came the beginning of many fun adventures with your best friend, Grayson.

You guys went everywhere together in general but the winter was when you guys really went everywhere.

You both believed in enjoying life while you were young so you embraced the perks of being teenagers while you still could.

———

Right when the sun disappeared and the moon took its nightly position in the sky, Grayson came over to bring you to a neighborhood in the town that stocked up all the houses with beautiful holiday lights. It was you guys' tradition and one of your favorite parts of winter.

When you pulled into the neighborhood, you were almost blinded by all the lights.

Grayson parked along the sidewalk and you stared in awe at the various colored Christmas decorations after stepping out of the car.

You quickly crossed the street and you and Grayson started your journey around the cul-de-sac neighborhood and pointed out all the cool decorations, laughing at the occasional jokes you both cracked.

At one of the houses, the people who lived there not only had a large, beautifully-designed house, but their lights were set up perfectly. White lights curled around the railings on the stairs leading up to the house and hugged the trunks on all the trees. Light up candy canes were lined up along the pathway and the bushes had rainbow flashing snowflakes.

"This house is really pretty," you said, stopping to admire it.

"Not as pretty as-" Grayson started, stopping before he finished.

"What?" you asked, pretending you hadn't heard anything.

"Nothing. Just talking to myself," he said, scratching his head.

You had a slight idea of what he was going to finish that sentence with but you didn't want to overthink it so you turned back to the house and brushed it all off.

You continued down the street, your hand bumping Grayson's occasionally. It took all your will power to not grab his hand and intertwine your fingers in his so you and Grayson's arms could swing gently as you strolled through the neighborhood.

———

When you finished walking around and admiring the decorations, Grayson was ready to go home, but you stopped him before he got to the car.

"Hey Gray, there's a big patch of grass in the center. Wanna go run around? I had coffee earlier so I'm really energetic right now," you said, jumping around.

He laughed at your inability to stand still and nodded,   Grayson to the grass, but, of course, he won.

"Damn it. You're in way better shape than me," you complained, once you reached the turf.

"Are you kidding? You're literally perfect," he said.

You lifted up his shirt a little bit and glared at him.

"Compared to that?" you said, motioning to his toned abs.

You poked him in the stomach and he laughed and stumbled backwards, swatting your hands away.
