It was your favorite part of the school day, Study Hall. You got to catch up on your reading and complete most of your homework before having to finish the rest at home.
You sat down at a big, round table and plopped your backpack on the ground next to your chair.
As multiple classes started being let out, you were soon joined by three of your friends.
"So, how's Ethan?" Hailey asked as she sat down across from you. She asked you that same question almost every day just to get on your nerves.
You rolled your eyes and continued filling in your history paper.
Ethan was your best friend and also one of the hottest guys in school, which caused a lot of girls to envy you because you and Ethan were so close. Because you guys were constantly being seen together, people always assumed you two were dating, which you got pretty sick of hearing over time.
If you were honest, you were kinda into him, but you promised yourself that no one would know but you.
"I haven't talked to him in a while," you lied, trying your hardest to change the subject while selecting a new pencil from your pencil case.
"Bullshit. You guys were partners in gym this morning and it wasn't even co-ed only partners," Katie retorted.
"And you two were laughing about something in the back of math class literally twenty minutes ago," Jessica added.
At the worst time possible, Ethan walked past you, tapped your shoulder, and whispered in your ear, reminding you of the joke he had cracked during math.
You both started laughing hysterically as Ethan walked to his group on the other side of the room.
All your friends cocked an eyebrow at you.
"What?"

Meanwhile, Ethan sat down at his Study Hall table right in the middle of a conversation about Marcus's New Year's Eve party.
They went around the table, each guy telling the rest who their date and kiss would be.
It landed on Ethan and he just tapped his pencil on the table while biting his lip nervously.
"You gonna tell us who your date to my party is?" Marcus inquired impatiently.
Ethan continued tapping his pencil, hoping they would just skip over him and move on. Unfortunately, they all sat there in silence, staring at him until he finally spoke.
"I don't have a date," he mumbled.
"What do you mean you don't have a date?" Thomas shouted, practically announcing it to the whole grade.
"Bro, shut up," Ethan hissed through clenched teeth, causing Thomas to sit down quickly because Ethan was so damn intimidating.
"Didn't Brittany ask you?"
"Yeah but I turned her down. If she's my date then that means I have to kiss her at midnight and I don't want to kiss her," Ethan stated.
"Who do you wanna kiss?" Luke asked.
Ethan paused and chewed on his bottom lip.
"It doesn't matter. She probably already has a date."
