~ summary: you and grayson play in the rain after your schoolwork session is interrupted ~

———————————————————————

You hopped into your car and dropped your backpack into the passenger's seat, pushing the keys into the ignition to start it up.

You were heading to the park to meet up with your best friend, Grayson, so that you guys could work on your science project.

When you arrived, you didn't see Grayson anywhere, so you sat under a tree and took out your papers while you waited for him.

You heard someone park their car so you looked over in their direction to see Grayson stepping out and shutting the door behind him. He waved at you when your gazes met and you smiled and waved back.

He made his way over and set his backpack down next to yours in the grass. He unzipped it and took the papers out of a folder.

"Ready to start?" he asked.

You nodded and you two began jotting down notes and coming up with creative ideas for the project.

———

You were in the middle of copying down the last answer on the first page of some required worksheets when a raindrop splattered on your paper. You looked up at the sky to see some dark, ominous clouds rolling in.

You looked over at Grayson to see him wiping another raindrop off his leg. You both ignored it and finished the rest of the answer.

You went to move on to the second page when you felt a few more drops, realizing that the rain was picking up. You put your papers away and zipped up your backpack to protect anything from getting water.

At that point, the rain was getting heavy and you both ran to put your stuff into your cars before your bags got soaked. You started your car and was just about to leave when Grayson stopped you.

"Stay," he begged.

"Why?" you asked through the sound the rain.

"I want to play in the rain."

"You don't need me."

"I'll look stupid running around by myself," he joked, making you giggle a little, picturing him playing in the rain in the huge field alone.

Your car was still whirring, ready for you to hit the gas, but you found yourself pulling the keys out of the ignition and stepping out of the car, the cold rain immediately soaking your hair and face. You ran to the field and could hear Grayson laughing behind you as he ran after you.

You kept running, realizing you were now playing chase. You slowed down and looked behind you to see that Grayson had disappeared. You moved your wet hair out of your face and Grayson ran up to you and hugged you from behind.

"Gotcha," he whispered.

He let go slowly and you turned to face him.

The rain soaked his white shirt, causing his chest and abs to be visible. He stared at you intensely, out of breath, and that's when you remembered that you were wearing a light gray crop top so your bra was probably visible.

"If you're going to stare, don't make it obvious," you said, walking up to him and pushing his wet hair into his eyes.

He fixed it and smirked as you started to get a cold feeling that ran up your arms and legs.

"Gray, I'm freezing. Let's go sit in my car where it's warm," you suggested.

He nodded and you ran back to the parking lot, your soaking wet clothes making it freezing outside. You got in the driver's seat and he got in the passenger's seat and you didn't waste any time to blast the heater on 80 degrees.

You breathed heavily and grabbed a towel from the trunk that you conveniently forgot to take out of your car from your trip to the beach with your friends. You squeezed out your hair into it and handed it to Grayson, who ruffled his sopping wet locks with it.

As the car started to warm up, Grayson began to pull at his wet shirt, which repeatedly stuck back to his skin. You pulled out your phone and started scrolling through your social medias, eventually looking over at him and sighing.

"Grayson, you can take your shirt off if you want to," you said, still looking down at your phone.

"Thank God," he breathed.

He peeled his shirt off and threw it into the back before pulling out his phone and scrolling through as well.

You looked over every once in a while to admire his body but when he looked up, your eyes darted back to your screen. You felt him looking at you periodically as well but you ignored it and tried not to smile.

———

When the rain finally slowed down, Grayson put his phone away and took a breath to speak.

"The rain's stopping so I'm gonna head back to my car. I have this family thing I have to get ready for anyway," he said."Oh, and thanks."

"For what?" you asked, putting your phone down to look at him.

"I don't know just, being you, I guess. I had a really great time today and it's because of you. So, thank you."

You smiled.

"You're making me blush. Now get out, assclown," you joked.

He laughed, got out, and shut the door behind him, leaving you to uncontrollably blush like a little girl.

———

The next day of school began with an awkward exchange between you and Grayson.

He left his shirt in the back of your car and it wasn't like you were going to keep it. You didn't even know how he managed to forget about it. I mean, it was his shirt for crying out loud.

"You left this in my car yesterday," you said bluntly, handing him the shirt in the morning before classes started.

The boy next to Grayson slammed his locker and stared at you two.

"Damn, what happened in the car last night?" he asked.

You rolled your eyes.

"Nothing happened Jeremy," you said.

Your friend, Stacy, walked over to you and wrinkled her eyebrows at the situation.

"Um, what happened in your car that Grayson left his shirt behind?" she asked.

"My shirt was wet from the rain so I took it off so it could dry," Grayson said.

"Damn, I wanted you guys to finally be a real couple," she said, pretending to be disappointed.

"Things change," Grayson said with a smirk before closing his locker and walking to class.

"Did he just say what I think he just said?" you asked, frozen in place by shock, your feet practically glued to the floor and your heart hesitant to continue beating.

Stacy nodded and covered her mouth to suppress her giggles.

"Y/N, he likes you. You know that, right?" she said.

You nodded in agreement but you also couldn't believe it, although you didn't really mind believing it.

You and Grayson wasn't a crazy concept. You guys had an inseparable bond and there was clearly more than a friendly vibe that floated around you both when you were together.

Yeah. It wasn't crazy at all.
