"Maria? Maria wake up sweetie." I opened my eyes to see Kevin kneeling over me. "Are you alright?"
"Ya?" I sat up and waited for the room to stop spinning.
"Do I need to ask again?" He smiled slightly.
"No." I shook my head. "I mean yes. No?"
He laughed. "Will you marry me?"
"Yes." I sighed happily and flung my arms around him.
"Thank god." He hugged me tight and pulled us both to our feet. Once our embrace was done, he set me down and slid the ring gently on my finger.
I stared at it dumbfounded. I was engaged. To Kevin. Kevin asked me to marry him. I will soon be Kevin's wife. My head started spinning again.
"Maria." Kevin caught me and fanned me with his hand. "It's alright, calm down,"
"I-"
"I know Maria, but I love you!"
"I-"
"Shhh, calm down." He sat me down on the stage and sat beside me.
"I talked to Alix over there during the show." I gestured to the speakers at the side of the stage.
"I don't remember that." He laughed.
"He complimented my hair, and helped when I got checked into the speakers."
"Slightly ringing a bell." He wrapped his arm around me and pulled himself closer.
"And then I passed out there." I pointed to the floor.
"That I do remember." He looked down at his shoes. "Maria, I did a bit of research on your sister..."
"Sophia?" Our eyes met and he quickly glanced down again.
"She died three years ago, at a hospital in Illinois." He paused. "I'm sorry." He hugged me.
"It's like she died years ago anyway." I looked down at my hands. "At least now I know." I dug my head into Kevin's shoulder but I refused to cry.
"Maria," Kevin lifted my chin up so our eyes met. "I love you." He leaned in and kissed me softly.
"Kevin, I-" I began but he cut me off with another kiss.
"Everything is good now Maria, we are happy, we are together, and we are alive, thats all that matters." He took my hand. "Let's get to the hotel, it's getting late."
I nodded and followed him out to the darkening street.
