Shawn got out of the car first. Officer Mitchell rolled down the window so Shawn could say goodbye.

"Are you going to be okay?" Shawn asked.

"Yeah, I should be. You take care of yourself." Mitchell said.

"You to. Stay out of trouble." Said Shawn.

Officer Mitchell drove away. An older man stepped out of the house to greet Shawn. They had a father and son hug.

"How did it go?" Asked the older man.

"It went fine. We shot killed a lot of walkers. " Shawn explained.

Clem and I walked over to them.

"Looks like we have a couple guests." Hershel said.

"We don't mean to impose, we just need a place to stay for the night. " I said.

"Good. I'm not exactly a bed and breakfast. "I'll put you guys in the barn over there with the other survivors." Said the older man, pointing.

"How many survivors are staying with you?" I asked.

"Just a family of three. Don't worry, I have a place for you and your daughter to stay."

"Oh.. Uh.. She isn't my daughter." I said.

"Then who are you?" The old man questioned.

"I'm just a guy that's taking care of her." I said.

The old man wasn't satisfied. He stooped down to Clementine's height level.

"Do you know this man?" He asked.

"Yes. He's a good man" Clementine replied.

The old man stood back up. He seemed to be satisfied. He noticed my leg.

"Why don't you sit up on the porch and I'll fix up your leg." He said sounding like he cared.

Clem and I walked up onto the porch just outside the front door of the house. There were three chairs. Clem sat next to me. The older man came out with some bandages and cleaning supplies.

"Okay, let's have a look at that leg." The older man said.

"Wow, what did you do?" He asked surprised.

"It was a car accident." I said.

"Who were you with?"

"I got a ride from a police officer."

"That's awful nice of him, where was he taking you?" The older man asked.

"We were headed south, toward Atlanta. Then a person or a walker stood on the road. The car flipped several times. " I explained.

"Your lucky to be alive" he said.

Shawn opened the door to talk to his dad.

"Hey dad, I was thinking, maybe I should start re-supporting the fence. Just in-case a lot of walkers come by." Shawn said

"Good idea. Its getting late and I don't feel good about working at night. You can start tomorrow."

"Yeah, that's what I was thinking."

Shawn closed the door.

"I didn't catch your names." The older man said.

" I'm Lee. And this is Clementine." I said introducing ourselves.

"Hi." Clementine said.

"Nice to meet the both of you. I'm Hershel Greene." He said. "This will sting for a minute."
