I saw a blurry, white light. Everything was a huge daze.
"Lee?" A distant voice said.
The white blur started coming into focus. I saw a white square object and surrounding it wasn't quite as white.
"Lee can you...?" I heard. It was very distant and I could barely make out what the voice was saying.
Things began to get much more clearer. I saw a large light. Next to it was what appeared to be a ceiling.
"Doctor, Mr. Everett is waking up. Hurry!" A female voice said.
I became super confused. I couldn't even figure out why I could even think.
"My head was supposed to have been destroyed." I thought.
In an instant, things became very clear. I realized I was in an emergency room. It didn't make any sense what so ever to how I was there.
"Lee, can you hear me?" A female voice asked.
I hesitated but decided to reply to the female voice. I couldn't see anything but a light and a ceiling. "Yeah." I mumbled.
"Okay, lee. You are waking up from a coma. Don't be alarmed. Everything is all right." The woman exclaimed.
"A coma? How the hell am I in a coma?" I mumbled.
"Just take it easy lee." The woman said.
I decided to take woman's advice. I continued to rest.
"Ill be right back." The woman said.
I heard the woman get up and leave. I could feel the soft blankets slipping passed my fingers as I felt them.
I was now completely awake. I was very confused. I sat up in my bed and looked around. Straight ahead was a door that exited the E.R room.
I looked to my right. All kinds of hospital things were laying around. There wasn't a whole lot to see. I noticed that there were IVs connected to my arm.
I looked to my left. I noticed that I was a few stories high. I could tell by the window.
The the woman came back along with a doctor.
"Welcome back lee." The doctor said.
The doctor had dirty blond hair and blue eyes. He had small wrinkles on his face. His face gave me a feeling of comfort. He seemed to have lots of compassion.
"What the hell is going on? Am I in the after life?" I asked.
The doctor smiled. "No. You suffered severe trauma."
"What? How?" I asked.
"You were in a car accident." The doctor said.
Instantly I remembered the car accident. I also remembered that I had shot and killed my wife.
I sighed.
"Am I still going to... uh... Jail?" I asked nervously.
"Why would you be going to jail?" The doctor asked.
I looked down. I felt awful about what I had done to my wife.
"I..." The doctor interrupted me.
"Now lee, listen very closely. A coma sometimes severely mess with our minds. Tell me exactly what you can remember." The doctor said.
I sighed.
"Okay, I went to work as normal. When I arrived home ... i..." I stopped for a moment and sighed.
