Once everyone made it to the building, a survivor closed the sliding metal cage surrounding the front door. Walkers were desperately trying to break in.
"Man." I said, catching my breath.
I looked around. We were in what used to be a pharmacy. There were rows of short shelves. The windows were boarded up to keep the walkers out. There was a small light on the far end of the small pharmacy. The evening sunlight peeked it's way through the cracks of the boarded windows.
"We can't take risks like this!" A survivor said. This survivor was a mid height female with long black hair. She wore a black tank top.
"Yeah, and we can't just let people die either!" The other survivor argued. The other survivor was a shorter, Asian man. He wore a gray jacket and a beat up hat.
"When I say that door stays closed, I mean it!" The woman said, becoming frustrated.
"If there were more people out there, I'd be out in a second!"
"Look, we don't know these people. They could be dangerous!" The woman argued back.
"Look, we aren't dangerous, we're just regular folks." I said.
"Lee's right, we're not going to hurt anyone." Kenny said, backing me up.
"I still don't trust y'all." The woman said.
"You guys decided to take a risk! And all of us appreciate it! Our RV overheated and we need some help." I explained.
Just then an older man walked over to us. He was a large man and stood taller then me. He wore a gray, tattered shirt.
"Lilly, your basically the leader here, you have to control these people." The older man said.
Just then I noticed the older man looked at Katjaa and Duck. Duck was covered in muck from the walker. Katjaa was trying to clean him up.
"What? He's BITTEN?!" The older man said in distress.
"No, he's not! I'm cleaning him up, he's not bit!" Katjaa said.
"Soon, she is going to find a bite! I don't want to be stuck in here with one of those things!" The older man yelled.
"He's not bit!" Kenny yelled.
"We need to get rid of him before he turns!" The older man said, walking toward Katjaa and Duck.
Kenny hurried and stood in front of his family. "Over my dead body!"
"Don't you damn People get it? He's bitten! That's how you turn!" The older man yelled.
"He's just a boy!" I said, defending Duck.
"Yeah but in a few minutes he will be a vicious man eater! We need to take him out before that happens!" The older man yelled.
"Kenny, stop him!" Katjaa said, nervously.
"No body threatens my boy! He wasn't bit!" Kenny argued.
"Everyone needs to chill the hell out!" Carly hollered.
"Mommy, I don't wanna be a man eater." Duck said in a sad tone.
"Don't listen to him!" Katjaa said.
"Lee!" Clementine said, shacking my hand.
"What is it Clem?" I asked.
"I... I... need to pee." Clementine said, hesitantly.
"In a minute Clem"
"LARRY, cool it man. He's still human, so we treat him like one." The Asian survivor said.
"I don't want to wait until he does turn! In a few minutes, the first thing he'll do is sink his teeth into his mom's face." Larry said.
Duck began to quietly cry. Katjaa embraced him.
"Look, Larry isn't it? If He does turn then we get rid of him!" I said.
"Finally, someone who has some sense. But I don't want to wait until that happens!" Larry said.
"Back off you old son of a bitch!" Kenny said.
"Lee, there's someone in there!" Clementine said.
My eyes quickly scanned for Clem. She was by a bathroom door.
"Don't worry Clem, it's just the walkers outside. You are hearing things." I said.
"Hey, I'm not the bad guy here, I just want to protect everyone, especially my daughter!" Larry argued.
"Think about it, what if it was your daughter?" I asked.
"Because my daughter isn't a dumb-ass kid. She knows how take care of herself!"
"Shut up!" Kenny yelled.
Just then everyone heard a scream.
"AHH Lee!" Clementine cried.
Everyone shifted their attention to Clementine.
"Clementine!" I said, running over to her.
While I was running over to her, I tripped. While laying on the ground, I could see Clementine down an aisle, next to the bathrooms backing up from the snarling walker.
I quickly stood up and ran toward Clementine. The walker was nearly on top of her.
"Get off her you son of a bitch!" I yelled.
I grabbed the walker and shoved it into the wall. Nothing seemed to bother it. The corpse was snarling as it tried to feast on my flesh.
"Ah!" I cried.
Suddenly I heard a gunshot. The walker had fallen to the ground.
"Man" I said, catching my breath.
I looked over. Carly had shot the walker.
"Thanks." I said in relief.
Carly lowered her gun and nodded.
I walked over to Clementine.
"Hey Clem, you alright?"
"Um.. yeah I'm fine. Thanks for saving me" Clementine said, happily.
"Your welcome. " I said, extending my hand to help her up.
Clementine took my hand and I helped her to her feet.
"Great, that's two kids that are bit!" Larry grumbled.
I knelt down and examined Clementine.
"Did you get bit?" I asked while examining her for a bite.
"I don't think so. I didn't fell anything." Clementine said.
I smiled." Good."
"She's fine Larry, don't worry." I said.
Clementine's face had an expression of nervousness and emptiness. I gave her a hug to help ease her pain.
"It's okay Clem, I'll protect you."
Just then, a lot of walkers began to make lots of noise outside.
"Awe shit!" Kenny yelled.
"Quick, everyone behind a shelf!" Lilly hollered.
The walkers were groaning and banging against the building that we were in. Clementine and I quickly went to the shelf where the others were.
"Has this happened before?" Kenny whispered.
"It has but there weren't as many walkers." Lilly responded.
I peeked up. I could see movements from several walkers from the cracks of the boarded windows. They were having a tough time breaking through the walls and the boarded up windows.
"That's going to happen in here pretty soon if we don't take care of that..." Larry said but got interrupted.
"Shut up!" Kenny said quickly defending his son.
"Wait, whats that sound?" The Asian man asked.
"Walkers." I said, surprised the Asian man didn't know.
"No, it sounds like a machine gun."
I listened. There was a faint machine gun sound coming from somewhere outside. Everyone else seemed to be listening.
"Is that the military?" I asked.
"Thank god for whatever it is." Carly said.
The walkers attention redirected to the machine gun sound. Eventually they stopped pounding on the building walls .
"Lee, I... um... still need to go." Clementine said quiet enough so I could only hear. She was slightly squirming.
"Okay, I'll look in the bathroom. If it's okay, I'll let you know." I said, walking over to the restrooms.
"Okay." Clem said, following me.
I could hear Kenny and Larry talking. They didn't sound like they were arguing.
I opened the door to the restroom. It was mostly dark except for a small window that let in some light. Old tattered pieces of cloth were on the bathroom's white tile. Some streaks of blood could also be seen on the floor and the walls.
I walked over to one stall and opened it. Nothing. I opened another stall, nothing.
There were only two stalls in the restroom. I inspected the sinks. One sink had some weird red substance in it while the other didn't.
Clementine opened the door. "Lee?"
"Okay Clem, you are good to go."
"Good." Clem said, walking to a stall.
"Ewe!" Clementine said in disgust.
"What?" I asked.
"Someone didn't flush!" Clementine said, leaving the first stall.
"Hmm, try the other one." I suggested.
"Okay." Clementine said, walking to the second stall.
"How's that?" I asked.
"Its better." Clementine said.
"Is it flushed?" I asked.
"Yeah."
"Okay good. Need anything else?" I asked
"I don't think so, thanks though." Clementine said.
"Good. I'm going to go now, the toilet might not flush." I said, exiting the restroom.
"Alright... wait... is there soap?" Clem asked
"Soap?... oh um.." I said, walking to the soap dispenser; sure enough, there was soap left. "Yeah."
"Good."
I turned on the sink briefly. The water pulsed several times then finally it turned to a full stream of water. After that, I turned off the sink
"Sink works too. Try not to use too much water. I'm not sure if the water pressure is on or not." I said.
"Okay." Clementine said.
I walked back over to the door, exited, and gently shut the door behind me. Then I walked back over to the others.
Everyone seemed quiet.
I decided to break the silence.
"Well, I guess we might be stuck together. I'm.. uh.. well my name is Lee. " I said, introducing myself.
"I'm Lilly." Larry's daughter.
"I'm Glen." The Asian man said
Katjaa sighed. "I'm Katjaa, and this is Duck.
"My name is Kenny."
"My name is Larry, whats you're daughter's name?" The large, older man asked.
"Oh uh.. She's not my daughter. Her name is Clementine. I'm just... taking care of her." I Explained.
"Oh, okay." Larry responded.
