Chapter 5 - New neighbors

I'm sitting in my room reading Looking For Alaska when, Kat yells for me. Kat is our maid. She has been with us since I was born. She is thirty four. She is like my best friend. I tell Kat everything. She is actually more like a sister.

I trod down the stairs. " Yes? " I ask her when I see her peering through our huge glass window in the living room.

" We have a new neighbor. " She says almost like its a secret. I go over to the window to look. We live in the very higher upper class neighborhood where not many people, even from my school, can afford. So when we get a new neighbor or something it usually means they are pretty rich, and we aren't going to be lonely anymore.

Well Kat is not going to be lonely anymore.

I'm a loner. In the past when we have gotten new neighbors, Kat usually hangs out with their maids. They rarely have kids. But even when they do they can't afford to stay here long. So I grew up by myself, my parents neglecting me, and Kat is the only one who loves me.

Sad, I know.

But I'm okay. Books are great company.

I look over at the house across from ours. There is in fact a moving truck over there. Kat moved away from the window and starts off to the kitchen.

" Where are you going? " I ask Kat confused. I've already had lunch and dinner time isn't for another three hours or so.

" I'm going to invite the new neighbors over for dinner. " She says in a duh tone.

I nod my head and go upstairs. Might as well read before I have to get ready.

•••••••••••

I'm currently standing by the door waiting for our neighbors to come over. I'm wearing a white dress that comes down mid thigh, and white flats with my hair curled. I only have lip gloss and mascara on.

The doorbell rings and echoes throughout the house. Kat does a little squeal in her spot. I smirk at her. She is always excited to meet new people.

That and the fact that she said they have a son around the age of thirty five and is super hot. He is coming to dinner tonight.

Kat opens the door looking beautiful. She is wearing a light pink dress that sits right above her knees and black heels. Her blonde hair is in waves and how's perfectly with her baby blue eyes and tan skin. She is not wearing any makeup because she has natural beauty.

I wish I did.

I stand there and put a smile on my face. But as soon as a certain person walks through the door my smile drops.

Standing at my door in a white polo button down and dark jeans is, Adam Smaught. I ignore the bubbles I get in my stomach.

He looks up and our gazes lock. His mouth drops open, in shock, I'm assuming. His eyes look up and down my body. I can't help but feel insecure. So therefore I try and cover myself while keeping the blush off my face.

No. I'm not blushing because he checked me out, I'm blushing because when I get insecure or feel uncomfortable, my cheeks start getting rosy. He notices this when his eyes look at my face and he frowns slightly.

He thinks I'm ugly. I'm no Zoe.

Now before I go any further, I don't hate Zoe because she is popular or pretty, I hate Zoe because of a personal encounter when we was in the fifth grade. I was being a good little girl sitting at the end of the lunch table by myself because Amy and Michelle had to do something with dance. But anyway, I was sitting there and Zoe comes up to and pours juice on my new dress to make it look like I had an accident. I don't know what I ever did to her but ever since kindergarten she has never liked me. She has always been mean to me, for no apparent reason. So I could handle it then. but ever since she done that, I just came to the conclusion that I do in fact hate her.

A beautiful looking woman comes over to me and holds her hand out. I'm assuming it is Adam's mother because he has her eyes.

" I'm Linda. And you are? " She asks in a sweet voice. She gives off a friendly welcoming vibe and I just love it.

I take her petite hand in mine and shake it. " I'm Melinda. How are you. " I say, sweet as diabetics.

She smiles, flashing her pearly whites. " Its very nice to meet you and I'm fine. You look beautiful. Derek, Adam, Antonio, and Rosie come over here and meet her. " Linda says flashing me a smile. I smile back.

Derek is the first to introduce himself. He is Linda's husband. Adam, well as you know is Adam. Antonio is the son Kat was talking about. And I must admit he is pretty hot. Rosie is six. She is their little sister. She is so beautiful to be so young.

They have some damn good genes.

I need to get through this dinner, I can do it. I'm the mother fucking fox.

A/N Welp. Adam is the new neighbor!
