Chapter 17 - Friends

" I want it! " I pouted like a five year old. Adam, Amy, Ethan, Michelle, and I are all at the fair in the next town over. Ethan just won a pink panda and he refuses to give it to me. He was teasing me with it because I have wanted it since we got here, and all I did all day was comment on it. I mean, I love pandas... who doesn't?

" Melly-jelly. " Ethan sighs. " This is mine. "

Amy, Michelle, and Adam are all snickering at me. " But, Ethe, I really want it. " I say, pulling the puppy dog face.

" No, no, no, put that face away, it won't work this time. " He says. I can see reluctance in his eyes. I start making whimpering noises and make my eyes bigger. " Ugh, fine. " He groans and hands me the Panda.

" Eeep thanks Ethan! " I say. He just mumbles some incoherent words under his breath. Adam walks over to me and gives me a kiss. I pull back and notice a girl a few feet away from us, staring at Adam and I.

Is there something on my face?

Adam must have noticed me looking behind him with a puzzled look and he turns around. His whole face lights up and he gets the biggest smile I have ever seen. " Ruby! " He exclaims.

The girl, Ruby, comes over and jumps and Adam's arms. Adam waste no time and returning the hug. Ruby is pretty. Like really really pretty. And to tell you the truth, they are staying in this embrace longer than I've liked.

They finally pull back. " Oh, um, everyone this is Ruby, my ex, also my best friend. " Adam says looking at her longingly.

Don't punch him. Do not punch him.

" And Ruby, this is Melinda, my friend, Ethan, Michelle, and Amy. " Adam finishes. I look at him with hurt in my eyes.

He introduced me as a friend. Not his girlfriend.

Amy and Michelle and Ethan look over at me with worried expression on their faces. They caught on to it too. I keep my face blank. I've always had to keep my emotions hidden.

" Oh, Adam will you please take me on the ferris wheel? " Ruby asks with puppy dog face.

Please no.

" I don't know Rubs... " Adam says.

" Please? Remember when you used to take me here when we were dating? Oh, and remember when we had our first kiss at the top of the ferris wheel? So please take me? " Ruby asks while, rubbing his arm up and down.

Okay, I seriously am about to stab this bitch.

" Fine. Ill meet you guys in about ten minutes. " He says to us, then leaves.

Everyone turns to me. I'm jealous. Hell yes, I'm jealous. I keep my face blank. He left me, on our date. He left with his ex. He even introduced me as a friend instead of his girlfriend. I try not to let the hurt get to me.

" Want me to stab her? " Michelle asks breaking the silence.

I manage a small grin. " No, its fine. " I say. They all nod. They know not to push the subject.

Fifteen minutes later, Adam and Ruby finally come back. Arm in arm. Jealousy swarms my body. I don't let it show.

" So guys, Rubs here is gonna spend the day with us. " Adam says, genuinely smiling down at her. She returns the gesture.
