The Undying Epoch (Incomplete)

Chapter 4: Revenant

"Hey babe, what's in there? Why are you so pale?" Sally inquired while leaning forward to see if she can get an idea through a glimpse.
"Noth.. nothing. Let's get back to class" i stutter while pushing myself inbetween Sally and Hyuni, and start walking as fast as i can towards the classroom.
They both were left standing stunned with confusion, staring at each other. I turn and immediately run back towards Hyuni who is tip toeing her way into the storage room.
"What are you doing? I said get back to the classroom! " i scolded Hyuni with a loud whisper and pulled her hand, tugging her to walk.

The journey back is surprisingly serene despite it's condition though still shakened from what i witnessed. I counted eight pieces of chocolate flavoured breads on my hands. That is definetely not enough but unless someone else wants to volunteer themselves to go on another trip back to the cafeteria, be my guest. As we reach the hallway leading towards my class, i look around to see if anyone has been following us and all i can see is the glowing firery effect outside.
"Wait, didn't we asked Raimy to shut the door behind us?" Sally curiously asked.
"Yeap. Why?" I start to look around as soon as i realise that she notice something is wrong. The door that we left the classroom from is now wide open and the chairs that was used to barricade the door was all over the ground. I quickly rush my way inside while Sally and Hyuni follows cautiously. My eyes widened in disbelief as my gaze locked upon tables and chairs inside the classroom being messed up as well as blood splatters around as if a rampaging creature came by and ferociously mauled up the students.
As i was standing still, Hyuni curiously had a look as well and straight away and hides behind Sally in a swift moment. Sally notices Hyuni's reaction and she took a quick glimpse of the situation too. I turn around only to find both of their jaws dropped. Remembering the thought of making sure they don't see or get themselves involved in all this mess, i stand infront of the two to obstruct their view from the gruesome scene.
Sally and Hyuni inquired me at the same time, "What is that? What is going on?"
I respond by closing the door silently and swiftly and attempt to comfort them by saying "it's nothing, don't worry about it. We have to keep going"
"But where are we supposed to go?" Hyuni asked.
I ignore Hyuni and breeze walked my way towards the staircase beside the class. The two of them followed along and took a glimpse of our class that was utterly thrashed up, slightly cringing in disgust, ignoring it and continues to follow me. I skip steps on the staircase, thank god my shoes muffle the sound of my footsteps. As we reached the third floor, i forcefully stopped in my tracks, reaching my right hand out behind me and spreading open my palms in a silent gesture for the two girls to stop their movements, quickly turning my head back to them as i heard the shuffles of their feet, now reaching a finger back to my lips giving them the sign to keep quiet, once they settled down with their fidgeting.

I turned my head back and peeped around the wall to my left, only to catch a slight glimpse of a silhouette that seemed to be limping and walking away slowly from where we hid, my initial thought was that it could be one of my classmates, but i doubt my classmates would be strolling at a time like this. We then sneakily continue to walk up the steps, trying our best not to attract the attention of that figure.

Reaching the fourth and the last level of the school compound, i peek along the side to see if anything was there, making sure the coast was clear.
"This might be a good vantage point to overlook everything" i said as i bring my head up to get a clear view of the outside.
"I wonder where Mr Joshua we-" she asked as she was cut of by the screaming of people from the outside.
Our attention immediately shifts towards the direction of the scream which is directly across the street.

Theres three students that seems to be our classmates as they wore our school uniform and have a familiar figure. As i was about to scream to get their attention, it occurs to me that they seem to be running from something which was hinted due to the fact that they kept turning their head backwards. I squint my eyes to get a clearer view of what's behind them, theres a person who apparently catches up to one of them and tackles him down. The what seems to be Rugby athlete then climbs onto the student and starts to bite the student in the neck region. Maybe it's the way he was trained to fight or a secret move to take someone down but that changes as the biting turns into chewing. The other students took off running away from the scene in the opposite direction from each other while screaming their asses off as if they were being chased by an alien or a monster.

Stunned in shock for a moment, i quickly demand Sally and Hyuni to follow me "Quick, we have to go!" before they could have a glance at what unfolded. We ran along the corridor we were at, glancing into the classes that were all messed up as we ran, i began to have an idea of what exactly has been happening, it sure as hell isn't a terrorist attack. We arrived at a staircase on the other side of the corridor and ran down the flight of stairs. As we reached level one, the three of us stops at an exact same moment because our eyes catches on a man lying unconscious on the floor with a pool of blood under him, he wore very familiar outfit and his distinguishable haircut, there was a moment of uneasy silence while all our faces were mostly confused as to who it could be at the same time our body tenses up as our adrenaline began to flow within us from fear. The silence was then broken when devastated Hyuni speaks up with a shaky tone in her voice "... Mr Joshua...?"
Hyuni begins to freak out and starts to cry.
"Hey hey hey look, this is happening, like it or not, its happening. I really don't like it too but i was strong for the both of you when you needed me to so now i need you to be strong for me. Both of you" i said facing Hyuni and Sally while holding onto both their shoulders.
"BABE!" Sally shouts while pushing me so hard that i tripped and fell over myself.
I look at what she was warning me about and i immediately was showered with fear. Mr Joshua, i mean, used to be Mr Joshua, pounces ontop of me. I didn't know what to do but to just hold his face away from mine because he was clenching and grinding his teeth away as if i'm a delicious treat. I try to hold him back as hard as i can but he starts to get closer and closer and I can smell his foul-smelling breath whenever he groans.
Out of absolute nowhere, Sally grabs onto a chair that was laying around behind her and smacks Mr Joshua's dead body right in the head. If it was in other occasions this would be very messed up in a way. But since it's not, her badass move saved my life. The used to be Mr Joshua guy, flung onto the wall to my left and i breathlessly said "Woah. What the hell?!".
I sit up, panting heavily and catching my breath whilst trying to let what unfolded before our eyes sink in. I look at Mr Joshua's body and notices how there was what seems like a bite on his shoulder. I lean forward in order to inspect the wound but i was stopped by Hyuni. I look up to my right only to see her putting a finger on her lips and points to Mr Joshua's leg. It was twitching and moving around in a weird way as if it was having a seizure. I gesture the two girls to move back while i try to get my feet back up on the ground. Sally, still holding the chair didn't seem to move at all. I tap on her shoulder and forcefully turn her head to face me. With a hand on her face, i give a look which signify if she was okay while slowly grabbing the chair from her and making her slowly take a few step backwards by gently pushing her. I look at Hyuni and she immediately pulls Sally closer to her, walking away from the scene.

With the chair in my hand i noticed it was too heavy to carry as a weapon so i lay it on the ground upside down. I put my whole weight on my leg and push it down while my hands are on one of the chair's leg stand. I wiggle the leg in a back and fourth motion trying to get it out and eyeing the body at the same time.
"Ting!" The metal leg of the chair makes a loud noise as it comes off and the body that was just laying there uncautious straight away reacted to it.
"GO NOW, GO GO!" I said while fleeing away after kicking the chair to him.

As we are running towards the gate, i saw a sparkle from the corner of my eyes which catches my attention. I look over and saw what appears to be a shiny gardening shears, laying around on a grass patch near the school's office. I divert my route towards the shears and pick it up in a quick motion and continue my way to our destination.
"Oh my god look" Sally said while pointing towards the school's front gate. I look over and to my surprise, there were countless amounts of odd looking revenant figures breaking through the school's gate and invading the compound.
We ran back deeper into the school without any specific destination in mind. All of us stops and look around to find an escape and Hyuni sparks an idea.
"There! The fence!" Hyuni says while pointing at the fence which was just across the school field.
We run into the school field and i turn to lock the gate behind me in order to buy us some time to execute our next plan.

At first, i thought that we were going to climb the fence and i wasn't really fond of that idea but as we reach the fence, Hyuni snatches the shears from my hand and immediately proceeds to cut an opening in the fence. Am not going to lie, i am impressed by her quick thinking and fast actions.
The unholy taint that glimmers from the sky had only gotten darker. The street lights was well lit only with a few exceptions that were blinking out of damage.
