"No you're not. You're joking." My father said.
I shook my head, tears pouring out of my eyes.
My mom stared at me in disbelief. I will never forget the look on her face. "Katelyn.." She finally choked out.
"Mama.." I cried, putting my head in my hands.
My mom shook her head, walking away.
"Katelyn Brooke Karev, are you kidding me?! What the hell were you thinking?! You're 16!" He yelled.
"I-I didn't mean to." I whimpered.
Alex huffed, storming off to Jo.
Jo's POV
Pregnant. As in my daughter is carrying a baby in her stomach at sixteen years old because I wasn't a good enough parent. I failed as a parent. I didn't do my job correctly. I sat on my bed, crying. This couldn't be happening.
Alex came in and sat next to me. I could tell he just yelled at her. In all honesty, I feel bad for her. I know how Alex can get. I put my hand on his arm, wiping my tears. "I need you to stay in here, hear me?" I said, standing up.
Alex stood up as well. "I want to be there to punish her."
I huffed, crossing my arms. "I'm having a mother/daughter talk. You're staying." I said as I walked out.
I found Katie on the couch, sobbing into her hands. God, I felt horrible. I took one of her hands, dragging her to the table. "How'd you know?" I asked.
"I snuck out to Aunt Az.." She sniffled. The way she whined when she said 'Aunt Az' reminded of me when she was younger. Why did she have to grow up so fast?
"Katie.. I-I have no words. I'm extremely disappointed.." I said. I couldn't be mad at her, it was impossible. "Who's the father?" I asked.
"His name's Chris Smith." She said, rubbing her eyes.
"Are you keeping the baby?" I finally asked.
She sobbed more as she nodded.
"Hey." I said, snapping my fingers. "Stop crying." I handed her a tissue. "I'm going to be here for you this whole time, alright? Man up, and take on these responsibilities."
She straightened her back, wiping her tears.
I stood up and hugged her tight. "You know I love you, always." I said, kissing her head. I never expected to become a grandma at 40.
"Mama, I'm not ready to have a baby." She sobbed.
My heart broke into a million pieces. I wish I could do something for her. I wish I could make this disappear, but I couldn't. It was out of my hands. I took both of her hands and bent down in front of her. "Look at me." I said, softly. "I said the exact same thing when I had you." I said, tucking her chestnut hair behind her ear. "Now, that was the best thing thag ever happened to me. You're going to be an incredible mom. I just know it. I'll make sure of it." I said, hugging her once again.
