Thoughts

I put my phone down silently. Everyone was quietly looking at me. I kept my head down and excused myself. I walked out of that embarrassing situation and took a breather outside. I sat down on the lounge chair by the pool and closed my eyes. Breathe Ashlynn.

I put my head in my legs. I closed my eyes. Nothing is gonna happen. Everything will be alright.

After a while I stood up and walked back inside. I didn't look at anyone and sat down in my seat and resumed eating.

Emma looked at me and gave me a look. I shrugged her off and fed my kids. After everyone ate I stood up to help Emma clean up.

My ex mother in law and ex sister in law decided to join us. I put on an apron and started doing the dishes that couldn't go in the dishwasher. The awkward silence was too thick.

I didn't say a word as they brought in plates. A little bit later we were all in the same kitchen area cleaning.

I wiped down the table. Zack and Xavier walked into the room. "Emma where's the keys to shed?", asked Zack. She walked away with him as she went to get the keys.

It was me, my ex husband and his mother and sister in the room. I started to fix the chair as my daughter Ivy ran into the room. "Mama", she said as she walked to me.

I stopped and looked at her. "Yes baby?", I asked her. She handed me hair tie and bow. I looked at her hair and noticed it was a mess. "Oh no baby what happened to your hair", I said as I turned her around.

"It was bothering me", she said as she looked around and the others. I smiled and put her hair in a loose braid. When I finished she walked away.

I clipped her bow into my hair and walked past Xavier to the kitchen.

I put away the towel and walked to the living room and sat next to Sam.

Xavier's POV:

After that weird moment of Ashlynns everyone finished their food and went to the living room and chilled.

Zack sat next to me with Issac on his lap.

I looked at him with an are you kidding me face. He shrugged and looked at Isaac who was watching us.

"You're mean. You have rude looks", said Issac who was giving me a disappointed disapproving look.

I rolled my eyes. "I'm not mean I'm just me", I said. Zack nudged me. I looked at him and saw his warning look.

"He is just a big meany who doesn't have any friends", said Zack reassuring Issac. He giggled and nodded his head. I looked away from them and looked around. I spotted Ashlynn who was talking to this girl.

She looked happy. 'Oh shut up' my mind told me. She cheated why do I need to notice her and point out her happiness, clearly she wasn't happy with me. I looked away and took out my phone. I decided to play some Candy Crush while Zack and Issac talked about random stuff.

Ashlynn's POV:

I stood up with Sam as we laughed. "That was a cool day", I said remembering our Bora Bora trip. She laughed and agreed. I walked over to Zack. "Dinosaurs are better than race cars", argued Issac. "Not even", said Zack. I looked at them and amusingly watched them for a little.

Issac huffed and looked around. He spotted me and smiled. "Mommy tell him that dinosaurs are better than race cars", he pouted. "Dinosaurs are cool", I stated as I looked at Zack. "Dinosaurs are dead", said Zack. I kicked his leg as he groaned in pain. "Dinosaurs are alive roaming the Earth", I reassured Issac. Issac giggled and rubbed it in Zack's face.

I smiled and walked with Sam to where Emma was. I plopped myself next to her. She stopped talking and looked at me. I looked around and saw my ex-family. I leaned over and whispered lowly, "I have the worst timing"

She just laughed and looked back at the mother in law, Carrie. "So um Ashlynn what are you doing in life?", Carrie said awkwardly.  I sat up. "I own Ivy Fashion," I said giving her a fake smile.

She nodded and the area went silent as everyone felt awkward. The silence was broken by Ivy's footsteps. "Mama, it's so boring there's no one to play with", she whined as she climbed onto my lap. I smiled. "It's okay baby", I said fixing her outfit. She turned and looked at Emma. "You should have a girl so I have someone to play with", she some what demanded. Emma nodded and promised to have a girl.

"Wait how about me aren't I your best friend?", asked Sam who acted fake hurt. Ivy giggled.  "Always but you are too old for dolls", she defended. Sam laughed and shrugged. "Good point child", she said.

We then had a small awkward chill talk and everyone went home eventually.

I laid my head on my pillow and sighed. Life is so hard. Their father was in the same room as them and he didn't acknowledge them. Some bastard. My children weight never know but I feel like I'm letting them down by not telling them who their father really is since he is still alive. I groaned and closed my eyes and fell into deep slumber.
