Traitors and lovers

Chapter 4

Hey guys! So yes Nikki is an OC, and I will probably draw her at a later date if you want me to even though I can't draw. I and my friend XxAngel243xX designed her while we were at school, and I hope you're liking her so far. Enjoy!

Nikki's POV:
'I have to get them out before they find me too' was my first thought as I gathered some more food to give them, as they obviously didn't have any. As they packed, I was silently begging them to hurry up as their presence would only bring them closer to me. The guy with the red hoodie, seemed to be only here for the ride as when I looked towards Star Butterfly I saw leader written all over her, even before I recognized her. She would've been an amazing Queen if she hadn't chosen a childish crush on her people.
However, they made a good team, if they had managed not to get caught yet, and that's probably the most important thing. Now that they had finished packing the food, I opened the door quietly as a mouse and checked if there was anybody else out there. Luckily, there wasn't, and I used my hand to signal them behind me. Using fewer words is always good.
I quickly but silently, tiptoed down the set of stairs down the hall from my room and they followed behind me, and out of the second door in front of the building. After we were outside, I took the first few steps and saw nobody. We snuck behind some trees, as halfway across the road I heard something, but it was just a unicorn tamer. Marco, I believe his name was, looked so done with life after I explained who the guy was and why he had unicorns with him. You do not want to hear that conversation. I mean it isn't that unusual here, but I guess of earth they don't exactly have Gable snaps to deal with either. Better safe then sorry I guess.
After I checked the road again, to make sure nobody was following us, we moved further into the forest. Only because I knew that there were fewer guards in the forest, as they assumed they wouldn't come through here not knowing their way too well. Now they had me and I know every inch of the place like the pink of my hair and the purple of my eyes.
My hands started to shake in anticipation of getting out of here because just as I know every inch, I also hate every inch as it's very humid. Marco and Star still behind me turning every which way. Mainly Star more than Marco, seeming more distrusting to these woods than most newcomers. Smart.
As I thought this, a massive flower snapped up from the ground and tried to snatch Marco. " WHAT THE HELL  IS THIS??!!" He screamed before the root snapper threw him into the air. I managed to grab him at the last minute before the jaws snapped shut.
He was knocked to the ground where he was sat against a tree Star rushing over to make sure he wasn't dying or anything. He must have stepped on its roots. Idiot.
THUD! I looked down at the ground behind Marco where another body now lay, and instead of staying still like he should have done, Marco having heard the noise as well rushed forward to help. Star still next to where Marco lay a minute ago in shock over Marco almost dying.
"Don't worry. He'll be fine, maybe a headache, but otherwise okay. And it's not like you could know a root snapper was going to be there." I tried to reassure her, and she just started to look more guilty.
"But I should've done. If I can't even protect Marco, how the hell would I protect my people as a Queen." She said quietly looking at me with light blue eyes, filled with tears.
I had no words to reply with, so she ended up walking over to Marco to help what appeared to be a girl of about thirteen, up from the ground. How on Mewni she managed to survive a ten feet tall I'll never know, but I could tell we were going to get along.
I walked over to her and took her shaking hand, forcing her to chin up to look at me." I'm Nikki, and you are?" I asked slowly and clearly not sure if she would be disoriented after that fall. She looked at me quickly then regained her footing and stood straight.
"Constance, my friend Loli should be around here. I've got to find her," she said quickly and firmly, like a command.
"Why?" Marco asked, worried about the girl's friend.
"Tom's after her."
