The fireball

chapter 5

I slowly make my way to the room where everyone is , to know what powers we have so that our trainers would know how exactly to train us , I keep wiping my sweaty palms on my pants every few minutes , what am I going to do , I lied in front of everyone and said that my power was water , I don't know what I was thinking when I said that , I just found out that I'm the stupidest person on the planet.

when Adam left me alone I had plenty of time to think of a plan , I had time to go and tell one of the trainers what I really am , but of course I didn't do anything , I just sat there pittying my self , and now here I am standing among everyone in here one by one would step in front of the trainers and show what they are capable of doing and as my turn gets closer I get dizzier , I don't know if it's because of the lack of food or the nervousness

" Elda , c'mon it's your turn " a boy in his twenties says smiling , little did he know that there is nothing to smile about I gulp nervously as I step in front of the trainers , I take a quick glance at Adam , he gives me a strange look , I immediately look away from him I take a deep breath holding my palm in front of me and just as I was about to focus on letting the fire or water or whatever it is out I let out a loud groan that doesn't sound like me at all , I place my hand on my head trying desperately to stop the headache and the dizzines from taking over me , everything starts to spin and I want to scream , someone keeps calling my name , but I can't see anything , I feel myself being slowly carried aways from the ground gently

" Elda , calm down take deep breaths and try to focus on my voice " I open my eyes to be met with Adam's green ones , he gives me a reassuring smile , I close my eyes and everything goes black .

I slowly open my eyes , the first thing I see is the ice bag in Adam's hand , my eyes widen and I cower away from him

he holds his hands up " Hey hey , calm down I'm not going to hurt you , calm down " I place a hand over my chest and take deep breaths

" Elda what's going on ? " he frowns

" I guess I have to explain somethings " I sigh

" you can trust me Elda " he squeezes my hand lightly

I gulp " my power's not water ... I don't know how to explain this "

he nods " show me then "

I close my eyes and hold my hand in front of me I focus and feel the energy running through my body I open my eyes to see the water and fire mixed together in a small ball , i clench my fist and the ball disappeares

" You're the ....fireball legend " he suddenly starts dragging me out of the room and I feel dizzy again
" Stop , Adam please stop " I yank my wrist out of his hand he looks at my trembling hands and pale face

he sighs and without a warning he lifts me up as if I am weightless " close your eyes " his tone made it clear that I must not argue with him , I close my eyes and a few seconds later I am gently placed on the ground , I opene my eyes , I could tell that we were in Adam's room by its smell I give him a questioning look

" This is the safest place for you now until we tell Edmund " he says

" Am I in danger ? " he nods slowly

" Care to explain why? " I sit down on a small chair and he sits opposite to me

"you already know about the legends I assume " I nod
" well the man who cursed you wanted to kill you , but it turned out to be fire powers , you were going to have powers anyway because both of your parents had powers water and wind , you were supposed to inherit wind with your fire and that way you would be safe but you inherited water instead which makes you one of the strongest and most dangerous people on Earth "

I let the words sink in " But why are these changes happening now of all times "

" Because you have water powers and the powers are supposed to appear at the age of eighteen "

Everything make sense now , my grandma didn't tell me to be careful just because I had powers but because they weren't even suopposed to be there at that time , so many questions fill my head

" You're one of the strongest people here , because you combine two elements that shouldn't be together they contrast with each other , polar opposites  " he explaines

" what am I going to do now " I cover my face 

" Elda you're not alone , we've got this , and you'll get through it don't worry , I'll teach you how to fight so that you can protect yourself if I'm not with you "

I frown " who am I going to fight ? who am I going to protect myself from ? "

" You're safe in here , no one wants to hurt you here , but the hunters do ... they'd either kill you or use you to fight against us"

I shake my head slowly , that is too much for one person

" You should rest Elda , tomorrow is going to be a long day " he says

I nod , standing up and heading towards the door
" where are you going ? " he asks

" To my room " I state                  

he shakes his head " you're going to sleep in my room till I discuss this with Edmund "

" And why should I sleep in your room , you said no one was going to hurt me here " I roll my eyes

" Yeah , I know , but we can't risk anything , and stop being so stubborn " he groans

I nod , but then I realise what he said " Hey , I'm not stubborn " I cross my arms

He laughes " whatever you say "

" uhhh , do you have any books I can read ? "

" sorry to dissappoint you , but I don't have any books " he smirks

" Are you trying to bore me to death ? " I huff

He chuckles " I don't want to bore you , I'm just busy all the time and I come here just to sleep"

" I get it , but you should do something different your day sounds so boring " I smirk

" I don't take orders from anyone" he smirks

I reache for the nearest pillow and throw it at him , he catches it easily and laughes

" I was right you're trying to kill me " I say smiling

" I won't let you get bored , what do you want to do "

" I want to know you , you're interesting " I smile

he shrugs " okay you can ask me anything "

" what are your powers ?"

" water and wind , I can cause disasters , but I'm just too kind to do so " he says dramatically

I laugh " what do you do in your free time ?"

" I like to draw " he smiles

I think about something to ask , but Adam's stare made me blush

" What " I ask

he shrugs " I like your hair , he tucks a strand behind my ear
I look at the ground blushing

" I .. I think it's strange "

he shakes his head " It makes you more special than you already are "

" Thanks " I smile

he cleares his throat " you should sleep "

I nodd and yawn

" I'll be there " he points to the couch by the window
" And don't argue with me , please "
I smile and lay on the bed , covering myself
" Good night Adam"
